Julia Roberts And George Clooney Star In First Trailer For Rom-Com ‘Ticket to Paradise’

We told you earlier this year that Julia Roberts was making her return to the rom-com genre with the upcoming film, Ticket to Paradise.

And now, we finally have proof! Universal released the first trailer for the upcoming romantic comedy, in which Roberts co-stars alongside George Clooney.

They star as two long-divorced parents who impulsively married each other. When their daughter Lily (Kaitlyn Dever) heads on a post-graduation trip to Bali and decides to marry a local, the two fly out to Indonesia to talk her out of making the same mistake they once did.

Sounds like a fairly standard plot for a rom-com, but we’re sure Clooney and Roberts will make it special just by being freaking George Clooney and Julia Roberts.

Ol Parker directed the movie, from a script he co-wrote with Daniel Pipski. Both Roberts and Clooney will serve as producers as well, which is pretty standard when you’re as beloved as them in Hollywood.

Ticket to Paradise will hit theaters on October 21, 2022, which is a little surprising, considering Halloween time is not typically thought of as “rom-com” time inside theaters.

George Clooney Says He Turned Down $35 Million For Just One Day’s Work

George Clooney has been deep in the interview circuit for the past week now promoting his upcoming film, The Tender Bar. The feel-good coming-of-age drama is scheduled to be released on December 17.

Clooney directed the film, which stars Ben Affleck and Tye Sheridan. It follows a boy growing up on Long Island who seeks out father figures among the patrons at his uncle’s bar.

The whole country [the U.S.], for the last five years, has been engaged in hate and anger, and I’ve been part of it at times. I’ve been angry, and this was such a kind story. It’s such a gentle film, and I wanted to be part of that, and I thought maybe an audience would want to be part of a gentle experience.

The movie has been receiving mixed-to-positive reviews from critics. But we’re not here to talk about The Tender Bar, we’re here to talk about something Clooney said during a recent interview.

He was talking to the The Guardian when he revealed he once turned down $35 million for a day’s work for an airline commercial.

I was offered $35 million for one day’s work for an airline commercial, but I talked to Amal about it and we decided it’s not worth it. [The airline was associated with] a country that, although it’s an ally, is questionable at times, and so I thought: ‘Well, if it takes a minute’s sleep away from me, it’s not worth it.’

Imagine reaching a point in life where you feel comfortable enough to turn day a $35 million paycheck for just one day of work.

Clooney has a net worth of around $500 million, so yeah… $35 million ain’t gonna make or break him. But still, it had to be difficult to turn down that much cash for a single day of work!

It’s also a little ridiculous, huh? We live in a world where people starve and struggle to pay medical bills, while others get offered $35 million for not even 24 hours of work. Doesn’t seem all that fair, eh?

The First Trailer For ‘The Tender Bar’ Has Arrived, Starring Ben Affleck And Directed By George Clooney

Ben Affleck and George Clooney are hoping to take home a few awards for their upcoming coming-of-age drama, The Tender Bar.

George Clooney directed the film, which is based on the coming-of-age story of the same name from Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist J.R. Moehringer.

The 2005 memoir centers on Moehringer (played by Daniel Ranieri as a child and Tye Sheridan as a young adult), who finds a father figure in his bartender uncle and the patrons of his bar, who take him to the beach, to ballgames and ultimately inside their inner circle.

Affleck stars as the loving uncle. Additionally, the film features performances from Lily Rabe, Tye Sheridan and Christopher Lloyd, who is 82-years-old, if you can believe that!

The early reviews for this movie have been stuck in the middle. No one seems to hate it, but no one has truly expressed love for it either.

Honestly, I think the trailer looks pretty good, but we’ll see how the whole film plays out. It’ll hit select theaters on December 17 before going wide on December 22.

Apple Studios Lands Big Thriller Film Starring Brad Pitt And George Clooney

Apple Studios is making big moves in the film industry, landing one star-studded film after the other, and the trend continues this week.

It was announced that Apple Studios just closed a deal for Jon Watts’ upcoming thriller film, which will star Brad Pitt and George Clooney. Watts, who previously directed Spider-Man: No Way Home, will write/direct/produce the project.

According to the report, the movie will have a wide theatrical release, so it doesn’t look like it’ll premiere on Apple’s streaming service, at least not intially.

The thriller follows two lone-wolf fixers assigned to the same job. The package hit the market last week, and seven to 10 bidders materialized. The combatants included Sony, Lionsgate, Annapurna, MGM, Universal, Warner Bros, Apple, Netflix and Amazon.

We don’t know how much Apple paid for this, but we know it was a lot. In fact, sources say Clooney and Pitt left an eight-figure deal on the table because it didn’t include a theatrical release.

For Apple toppers Zack Van Amburg and Jamie Erlicht, this becomes the latest giant film package to add to their slate. Others include Emancipation, a new film from director Antoine Fuqua, and starring and produced by Academy Award nominee Will Smith; the highly sought-after Killers of the Flower Moon, directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro

They’re making big moves over there at Apple. Shoutout to all you out there buying that new iPhone.

Billie Lourd Set To Join George Clooney And Julia Roberts In ‘Ticket to Paradise’

Billie Lourd is set to join some Hollywood legends in the upcoming Universal flick, Ticket to Paradise.

Lourd has had recent success, starring in the American Horror Story series and in the recent Star Wars flicks, so she’s no stranger to kicking it with some heavy hitters.

But she’s perhaps about to play in her biggest game yet, co-starring alongside George Clooney and Julia Roberts.

She’ll be playing a character named Wren Butler…

A recent University of Chicago graduate who accompanies her best friend Lily to a post graduation jaunt to Bali. Lily’s abrupt decision to marry a Balinese local triggers her parents (Clooney & Roberts) to team to try and stop her from repeating their mistake from 25 years ago. Wren stays in Bali for the engagement/wedding festivities and, in the process, finds her own love with a local doctor.

Sounds a little complicated, but I’m here for it. Ol Parker will be directing the film this fall from a script he co-wrote with Daniel Pipski.

No word on a planned release date, but we’ll keep you posted.

George Clooney Talks About That Tom Cruise Coronavirus-Inspired Freakout

The internet has been debating the leaked audio of Tom Cruise yelling at crew members on the set of Mission: Impossible 7. If you missed the story/audio, you can click on this link to check it out.

Basically, someone broke COVID-19 protocol on set, and Cruise freaked out and yelled at them in front of everyone.

The internet was split on this. Did Tom overreact? Or was his rant justified? Well, Howard Stern asked George Clooney for his opinion, and he also seemed kinda split.

He made it clear that he understands why he did it, but he questions whether he did it in the best way.

He didn’t overreact because it is a problem. I wouldn’t have done it that big, I wouldn’t have pulled people out. You’re in a position of power. It’s tricky, you do have a responsibility for everyone and he’s absolutely right about that.If the production goes down a lot of people lose their jobs. People have to understand that and be responsible. It’s just not my style to take everybody to task that way.

But Clooney makes it clear everyone has their town style, and at the end of the day, the people who were on the shoot will have to be the judge.

The people who were on that shoot will tell us more about it. I understand why he did it, he’s not wrong at all, I just don’t know if I would have done it quite that personally. But I don’t know the circumstances, maybe he had it 10 or 15 times before.

And last we heard, five crew members from the set quit not long after Cruise’s freakout, so perhaps that’s them telling us.

George Clooney Reveals He Was Hospitalized After Losing Weight Too Quickly For New Role

We told you earlier this week about George Clooney’s upcoming movie, Midnight Sky. He directed/produced/starred in the film, which features a post-apocalyptic world.

In the movie, Clooney plays a “lonely scientist in the arctic who races against time with a mute stowaway named Iris (newcomer Caoilinn Springall) to stop a group of astronauts from returning home to a global catastrophe.”

During an interview with the Mirror on Wednesday, Clooney revealed that he was rushed to the hospital while filming the movie due to intense stomach pains.

It was determined inside the hospital that he had pancreatitis.

I think I was trying too hard to lose the weight quickly and probably wasn’t taking care of myself. It took a few weeks to get better and as a director, it’s not so easy because you need energy. We were out on this glacier in Finland, which made it a lot harder work. But it certainly helped with the character.

And what’s why they pay him the big bucks. Well, that and he’s classically handsome.

The good news is that he’s feeling much better now. If you’d like to see just how skinny Clooney was, the film is set to premiere on Netflix on December 23.

Early Reviews For The George Clooney Directed Film ‘The Midnight Sky’ Are In!

George Clooney’s passion project ‘The Midnight Sky’ is set to be released on Netflix just two days before Christmas on December 23.

Clooney directed, produced and stars in this film, which is based on the book ‘Good Morning Midnight‘ by Lily Brooks-Dalton.

The film tells Augustine’s post-apocalyptic story (Clooney), a lonely scientist in the arctic who races against time with a mute stowaway named Iris (newcomer Caoilinn Springall) to stop a group of astronauts from returning home to a global catastrophe.

In addition to Clooney, this film stars Felicity Jones, Kyle Chandler and David Oyelowo.

The early reviews are starting to pour in, and they are wildly mixed. Right now, it sits at a confusing 54 rating on Metacritic, with just 16 reviews counted.

Out of those 16 reviews, one has been categorized as “negative” nine have been “mixed” and six have been “positive.”

So let’s show you little snippets from a positive review, a mixed review, and a negative review.

First up is David Rooney from The Hollywood Reporter, who seemed to really enjoy the flick:

Shifting with grace and narrative equilibrium between the Arctic and a mission returning from Jupiter, this is a desolate elegy for a diseased planet and a prayer for the creation of life elsewhere in the universe. Flanked by a strong supporting cast, Clooney delivers a thoughtful reflection on the toll of environmental devastation.

Uproxx’s Mike Ryan was conflicted. He enjoyed parts of the movie, but felt like the movie may have been better had Clooney not been directing it.

Clooney wants to direct actors who aren’t himself, which I’m sure is why we spend so much time with the crew of the spaceship. But if Clooney weren’t directing, that director would have probably realized that the story thrives in those small moments with Clooney. It’s almost like the director George Clooney is the actor George Clooney’s worst enemy.

Finally, Variety’s Owen Gleiberman seemed unimpressed by the entire thing…

Some viewers will surely be moved. To me, though, The Midnight Sky just proves that a movie that reaches for the stars can still come up empty-handed.

George Clooney Reveals He Thought He Was Going To Die After Scary Motorcycle Crash (VIDEO)

Back in July of 2018, George Clooney was involved in a pretty scary motorcycle accident. He was on his way to shoot a scene for the Hulu mini-series Catch 22 when a vehicle pulled in front of his scooter and hit him directly.

Clooney claims he was going nearly 70 miles per hour when the car pulled in front of him.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Clooney revealed he thought he was going to die…

It split my helmet in half, it knocked me out of my shoes. I was hit hard. I was just waiting for the switch to turn off because I broke his windshield with my head, and I thought, ‘OK, well, that’s my neck.’ If you get nine lives, I got all of them used up at once — so I can let go of motorcycle riding for a while.

Thankfully, he didn’t die and miraculously, he only suffered minor injuries. He was able to return to work a short time later. Clooney has joked since the crash that his wife Amal won’t let him touch another motorcycle.

And that’s probably for the best. Motorcycles aren’t for movie stars. They’re for 50-year-old dads who wish they were movie stars.

George Clooney’s ‘Suburbicon’ Has Miserable Week At The Box Office, One Of Paramount’s Biggest Flops Of All Time

George Clooney has to be extremely disappointed today. His film, Suburbicon, completely failed at the box office. Even though it boasted a cast of Matt Damon, Julianne Moore and Oscar Isaac, it did not perform well with anyone. The critics hated it, and the box office numbers prove the general audience hated it as well.

It debuted on over 2,000 screens across the country, but it earned just $2.8 million this weekend. It’s one of the worst performing wide-releases ever for Paramount Pictures. The film cost $25 million to produce and $10 million to distribute.

Kyle Davies, president of distribution for Paramount, admits they are disappointed…

“Obviously we are disappointed in these results which we don’t feel are indicative of the quality and message of this original movie.”

This is not a case of poor marketing. It’s not like Suburbicon wasn’t promoted. People knew about the film, they just didn’t care, most likely because of the poor reviews. One critic for Vice said the film was “so bafflingly bad, so fundamentally ill-conceived, so wanting in basic tenets of tone and narrative, it almost feels like the work of a first-time director…”

That’s a huge F U to Clooney, ’cause it’s not his first time directing a film. This was his fifth time sitting in the director’s chair, although, it was the first time he didn’t also star in the movie.

Better luck next time.
