Blumhouse Set To Release Thriller ‘You Should Have Left’ On Demand This Month

The country is slowly starting to reopen, but theaters are still mostly closed. There are rumors of the bigger chains opening in July, but we’ll see if that actually happens.

In the meantime, studios are still making moves to release films on demand.

It was announced this week that Blumhouse and Universal Pictures will release the supernatural thriller ‘You Should Have Left’ on demand on June 19.

The film, which stars Kevin Bacon and Amanda Seyfried, was originally going to be released inside theaters.

In addition to the release date/format change, they also released a new trailer to get people excited.

[In the film]  Bacon’s character is a screenwriter, who travels with his younger wife and 6-year-old to a remote house in the Alps to work on a sequel to his hit film. He begins to lose his bearings when he suspects that a sinister force within the house knows more than he or his wife have revealed, even to each other.

Watch The New Trailer For Christopher Nolan’s Upcoming Sci-Fi/Action Flick ‘Tenet’

Warner Bros. released the second ‘Tenet‘ trailer on Thursday, much to the delight of Christopher Nolan fans across the world.

Nolan’s latest film stars John David Washington and Robert Pattinson, and while details surrounding the plot have been few and far between, the studio did release this plot synopsis…

John David Washington is the new Protagonist in Christopher Nolan’s original sci-fi action spectacle ‘Tenet.’

Armed with only one word—Tenet—and fighting for the survival of the entire world, the Protagonist journeys through a twilight world of international espionage on a mission that will unfold in something beyond real time.

Not time travel. Inversion.

What the hell does that mean? No idea. And why are they calling Washington’s character “Protagonist”? Is that his actual name in the film? If so, does that mean the movie is a story inside a story?

I don’t know. They obviously wanted the synopsis to be vague, so I’m not going to attempt to make sense of it.

In any event, check out the new trailer below. And yes, the release date is still scheduled to hit theaters July 17, but that could change.

Check Out Charlize Theron In First Trailer For ‘The Old Guard’

Netflix has released the first trailer for their upcoming action/thriller, The Old Guard, which stars Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron.

Theron stars as Andy, an immortal warrior who leads a cover group of mercenaries incapable of dying.

Based on the graphic novel series of the same name by Greg Rucka and Leandro Fernandez and scripted by Rucka himself.

In addition to Theron, this movie also stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Luca Marinelli and Matthias Schoenaerts.

I’ll be honest. The premise isn’t exactly grabbing me. It’s not my cup of tea, but given the current state of the world, I’ll take any new movie I can get.

At the very least, this should be an entertaining flick. It’s scheduled to premiere on Netflix on July 10, which is just a little over one month away.

Watch First Trailer For Spike Lee’s Upcoming Netflix Film ‘Da 5 Bloods’

Surprise, surprise. Even though theaters are still closed in many states across the country, we’re still being blessed with new movies from talented filmmakers.

Netflix teamed up with Spike Lee recently to create the war drama Da 5 Bloods.

Da 5 Bloods tells the story of four black veterans who go back to Vietnam to find the remains of their fallen squad leader (played by Chadwick Boseman), as well as a trunk full of gold that they buried in the Vietnamese jungle during the war.

In addition to the central conflict, the film will also touch on racial politics in America during the late 1960s.

When black soldiers were questioning why they were fighting for a country that had always oppressed people like them—particularly in the wake of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s assassination.

The movie is expected to be released on Netflix on June 12, which is just a few weeks away now. Netflix always be dropping the trailers late.

Russell Crowe Thriller ‘Unhinged’ Vows To Be First Studio Release Back In Theaters

While most studios are moving their films back several months, independent movie company Solstice Studios is moving their first release up by a few months.

The studio has decided to release the Russell Crowe thriller ‘Unhinged‘ on July 1. That’s two weeks before Christopher Nolan’s Tenet‘ film is set to hit theaters.

It’s a bold, albeit risky bet by Solstice, given that the coronavirus has led to widespread theater closures. Some states are beginning to lift restrictions and allow more businesses to open, and theaters are starting to welcome customers in places like Texas, but it’s still unclear if major markets such as Los Angeles and New York City will be back in business by July.

They are clearly hoping to take advantage of the open schedule. If theaters are open July 1, it’s likely this Unhinged film will be the only new release, which will result in success at the box office.

But if the majority of theaters aren’t open by July 1, the studio is going to look very silly.

CEO of the studio, Mark Gill, said the decision to move up the date came after a lengthy discussion with the National Association of Theatre Owners.

Solstice also commissioned a poll of 1,000 that showed more than 80 percent of Americans want to go to the movies in July.

There is also the fact that the original release date (September 4) is now packed with new releases, like, A Quiet Place Part II.

So yeah, they don’t want competition. It’s a risky move, but it might just work.

Check Out Kevin James Like You’ve Never Seen Him Before In Horror/Thriller Trailer ‘Becky’

Throughout the years, Kevin James has been the lovable goofball. He was hilarious in ‘The King of Queens‘ for several seasons. He played his role perfectly, and that’s kinda how we all view him now.

But he’s taking a risk in his most recent role. James will be playing the villain for the first time in his career.

James stars in the upcoming horror/thriller ‘Becky‘ as the leader of a group of convicts who invade a lake house in search of a mysterious key.

The film centers on rebellious 14-year-old Becky (Wilson) as she’s brought to a weekend getaway at a lake house by her father in an effort to try to reconnect after her mother’s death. The trip takes a turn for the worse when a group of convicts on the run, led by the merciless Dominick (James), suddenly invade the lake house.

In addition to James and Lulu Wilson, this film also stars Joel McHale.

The film, which is rated R, is set to be released on demand on June 5, and to get people excited, the studio put out the trailer you see below.

I’ll be honest, it looks a bit comical, but I’m also intrigued by the story. I want to see how this Becky girl takes down these convicts. It’s like a horror version of Home Alone.

Watch The First Trailer For Judd Apatow/Pete Davidson’s ‘King of Staten Island’ Film

If you’ve been following the headlines recently, then you know Pete Davidson is growing tired of Saturday Night Live. It’s likely this season or next will be his last on the show.

And it looks like following his SNL gig, he wants to transition into movies.

The 26-year-old comedian is the star of the upcoming comedy The King of Staten Island. The movie is described as “semi-autobiographical” and was co-written by Davidson himself.

Judd Apatow directed the project, which was originally set to release inside theaters across the country. Due to the coronavirus, the release date was canceled, and those involved decided a streaming/on demand release would be best.

The movie will premiere on demand on June 12.

The movie follows Davidson as Scott, a 20-something aspiring tattoo artist living at home in his New York City borough hometown, still grieving the loss of his firefighter father, who died 17 years prior.

As most of you know, Davidson’s dad in real life was a first responder in New York City during the 9/11 attacks. He died when Pete was just 7-years-old.

Watch The First Trailer For Michelle Obama Documentary ‘Becoming’

Back in 2018, Michelle Obama released her memoir titled ‘Becoming‘ and it was a massive hit. It sold more copies than any other book published in the United States in 2018, and it broke that record in just 15 days.

Now, two years later, a ‘Becoming’ documentary is set to hit Netflix.

The film, directed by Nadia Hallgren (She’s the Ticket), promises an intimate look into every facet of Obama’s life, from her beginnings to the present. It also promises more-than-wholesome footage of Obama inspiring young black women and answering questions about racism with honesty.

The documentary will provide more behind-the-scenes footage, following Obama on the 34-city tour she went on to promote the book.

This film, which hits Netflix on May 6, is part of the deal Barack and Michelle reached with Netflix back in 2018. Their production company signed an exclusive deal with the streaming giant.

One of their recent projects, Crip Camp, premiered on the streaming service back in January. It currently has a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Jerry Seinfeld Set To Release First Comedy Special In Over 20 Years

The last time Jerry Seinfeld released an original stand-up special, Bill Clinton was president and the Furby was America’s hottest toy.

That was over 20 years ago, and now Seinfeld is ready to make a return to the stage. The 65-year-old comedian is set to release his upcoming stand-up special ‘23 Hours to Kill‘ on Netflix on May 5, 2020.

A trailer for the special was released. You can view it at the bottom of the page.

The trailer borrows from the infamous ‘Goldfinger’ scene in which the title villain threatens to slice a tied-down 007 in half with a laser — starting at his crotch. It turns out Seinfeld’s nemesis, a one-eyed ‘super villain,’ is having financial problems and wants Seinfeld to tell him how to earn ‘comedy-special money.’

In addition to spoofing James Bond, he’ll also talk about texting, bad buffets, pop tarts, and lots of other things in this special.

Check Out The First Trailer For Netflix Comedy ‘The Wrong Missy’ Starring David Spade

David Spade is someone who probably doesn’t get enough credit. He seems to be an afterthought when people mention Adam Sandler or Chris Farley.

But Spade is a legitimately talented comedic actor. Joe Dirt is a classic (don’t tell me it’s not) and Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star is so underrated. The critics slammed that sh*t, but I remember owning the DVD and watching it several times.

Spade doesn’t always hit, but when he does, it’s usually pretty good.

And his loyal fans are hoping his latest Netflix film ‘The Wrong Missy‘ delivers. He stars as Tim Morris in the movie, a man who accidentally invites the wrong girl to his company retreat.

The hilarious Lauren Lapkus co-stars in the movie, alongside Sarah Chalke, Molly Sims, Nick Swardson and Rob Schneider.

The Wrong Missy will premiere on Netflix May 13. Check out the trailer below…
