Chloe Okuno’s debut feature ‘Watcher’ premiered at the Sundance Film Festival to mostly positive reviews. Mixed-to-positive, perhaps.
And now, the first trailer has dropped ahead of its release inside theaters on June 3. ‘It Follows‘ actress Maika Monroe stars in the movie as a young woman who moves into a new apartment with her fiance and is tormented by the feeling that she is being stalked by an unseen watcher.
IFC Midnight bought the film out of Sundance, and as mentioned above, they plan to release it inside theaters on June 3.
In addition to Monroe, Watcher will star Karl Gusman, Burn Gorman and Daniel Nuta. Based on the few reviews released, this movie seems like a solid flick. It doesn’t appear to be blowing anyone away, but it won’t be a bad way to spend the night at the movies.
You can check out the first trailer below. Monroe is such a great actress, so it’s good to see her in another starring role.
Get ready, folks. A24 has just dropped the first trailer for Ti West’s horror film, X, which stars Mia Goth, Kid Cudi, Brittany Snow and Jenna Ortega.
West wrote and directed the flick. The story follows a group of young filmmakers who set out to make a new kind of adult film in rural Texas. The only problem with this is that the guest house they’re renting out for the shoot is owned by a strange elderly couple.
This movie has Texas Chainsaw Massacre vibes written all over it, and not the stupid remakes. We’re talking the original, which was way ahead of its time.
I can’t tell you why I’m saying this, but trust me when I say this movie is legit. You’ll definitely want to check it out when it hits a theater near you on March 18, 2022.
Are you a horror fanatic? Do you have some extra cash? Are you looking to move to Rhode Island? If you answered yes to all those questions, we have the perfect home for you.
The famous Rhode Island farmhouse that inspired James Wan’s horror franchise, The Conjuring, is currently on the market.
The eight-acre farmhouse at 1677 Round Top Road in Burrillville, Rhode Island, was said to have been inhabited by a 19th-century witch named Bathsheba Sherman. She was rumoured to have sacrificed her newborn baby to the devil and cursed the land after her death. In 1971, the farmhouse’s then owners, the Perron family, enlisted paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren to help them after a series of paranormal activities plagued their family.
The home is over 3,000 square feet and is on the market for $1.2 million. And honestly, it doesn’t even look that spooky inside. It actually looks like it’d be a cozy place to live.
The last owners of the property were paranormal investigators. They purchased the property to host paranormal events and rent out rooms for guests looking for a scare.
But after just two years, they’re looking to sell the property. Not sure if that’s because creepy stuff has been happening, or if it just ended up being a bad investment.
The horror/slasher film ‘Candyman’ was supposed to be released way back in June 2020, but it was pushed back a total of three times, thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic.
But now finally, a year later, it’s set to be released inside a theater near you. It’s scheduled to hit theaters August 27, 2021, and to get people excited one more time, the studio released another trailer.
It’s a smart move, because the original trailer, released over a year ago, got so much attention online. It created lots of buzz and turned this film into one of the most anticipated films of the year.
And it’s clear they’re hoping this latest trailer gives the project another shot in the arm before its release in August.
The synopsis can be found below:
For as long as the residents can remember, the housing projects of Chicago’s Cabrini Green neighborhood were terrorized by a word-of-mouth ghost story about a supernatural killer with a hook for a hand, easily summoned by those daring to repeat his name five times into a mirror. In the present day, a decade after the last of the Cabrini towers were torn down, a visual artist named Anthony McCoy and his girlfriend, an art gallery director named Brianna Cartwright, moved into a luxurious loft condo in Cabrini, now gentrified beyond recognition and inhabited by the upwardly mobile millennials. With Anthony’s painting career on the brink of stalling, a chance encounter with a Cabrini Green old-timer exposes Anthony to the tragically horrific nature of the true story behind the Candyman. Anxious to maintain his status in the Chicago art world, Anthony begins to explore these macabre details in his studio as fresh grist for paintings, unknowingly opening a door to a complex past that unravels his own sanity and unleashes a terrifyingly viral wave of violence that puts him on a collision course with destiny.
Nia DaCosta directed this movie, based on a script she wrote with Jordan Peele and Win Rosenfeld.
It would mark the first collaboration between Peele and Kaluuya since the Best Picture-nominated Get Out, which earned Kaluuya a nomination for best actor while Peele won for best original screenplay.
Besides directing and writing the pic, Peele will also produce alongside Ian Cooper for their Monkeypaw Productions, via the company’s exclusive five-year deal with Universal.
As always with Peele’s projects, the plot details remain under wraps. You typically don’t hear much about the details until the first trailer is released, and even then you’re kinda like, “Wait, what?” and hell sometimes, you don’t even know what the movie was about until two weeks after you watch it.
This latest film is expected to be released July 22, 2022, so filming will most likely start in the fall of 2021.
Ben Wheatley (no relation to wheat) shot a horror film last year during the pandemic and no one really knew about it.
The filmmaker behind the 2011 film ‘Kill List‘ managed to shoot a feature horror film last year titled, In The Earth.
Pic stars Joel Fry (Yesterday), Ellora Torchia (Midsommar), Hayley Squires (I, Daniel Blake), and Reece Shearsmith in a story set against the backdrop of the world searching for a cure to a deadly virus (sound familiar?). A scientist and a park scout venture deep into a forest on a routine equipment run, only to find themselves trapped in a terrifying mystery.
Not sure how excited people will be to watch a movie about a deadly virus as we’re still living with one, but the trailer looks different enough.
Neon fully financed and produced the project and is planning a release inside theaters later this year.
The movie premiered at Sundance back in January and received mostly positive reviews from critics.
Throughout the years, Kevin James has been the lovable goofball. He was hilarious in ‘The King of Queens‘ for several seasons. He played his role perfectly, and that’s kinda how we all view him now.
But he’s taking a risk in his most recent role. James will be playing the villain for the first time in his career.
James stars in the upcoming horror/thriller ‘Becky‘ as the leader of a group of convicts who invade a lake house in search of a mysterious key.
The film centers on rebellious 14-year-old Becky (Wilson) as she’s brought to a weekend getaway at a lake house by her father in an effort to try to reconnect after her mother’s death. The trip takes a turn for the worse when a group of convicts on the run, led by the merciless Dominick (James), suddenly invade the lake house.
In addition to James and Lulu Wilson, this film also stars Joel McHale.
The film, which is rated R, is set to be released on demand on June 5, and to get people excited, the studio put out the trailer you see below.
I’ll be honest, it looks a bit comical, but I’m also intrigued by the story. I want to see how this Becky girl takes down these convicts. It’s like a horror version of Home Alone.
If you were a fan of ‘Midsommar‘ (why wouldn’t you be?) you might be interested in the upcoming horror-thriller, The Other Lamb.
The movie, which was created by Małgorzata Szumowska looks pretty damn unsettling. The story appears to center around a cult of young women living off the grid.
Check out the official synopsis below…
For her entire life, the cult she was born into has been all that teenage Selah (Raffey Cassidy) has known. Along with a band of similarly cloistered young women she lives seemingly unstuck in time, cut off from modern society in a remote forest commune presided over by a man called Shepherd (Michiel Huisman), a controlling, messiah-like figure with a frightening dark side. But when her insular world is rocked by a series of nightmarish visions and disturbing revelations Selah begins to question everything about her existence.
The film is set to hit theaters April 3, 2020. It’ll be released inside select theaters as well as VOD. It’s been receiving mixed-to-positive reviews from critics.
You probably best know Elijah Wood for his work in the ‘Lord of the Rings‘ franchise. He played one of the main characters (Frodo) in the series, and much like Daniel Radcliffe of Harry Potter fame, Wood has shifted into more of a bizarre indie space now.
His latest film is a father-son psychological slasher titled ‘Come To Daddy‘
Come to Daddy pits Wood’s tragically-hairstyled Norval Greenwood against his father (Stephen McHattie) out in, of course, a cabin. Not in the woods, but on the coast. The weird vibes are unchanged, however.
This film was directed by Ant Timpson in his feature debut. The movie was a hit at the many festivals it premiered at.
It’s set to hit theaters and VOD on February 7, 2020. Check out the trailer below…
A24 is ready to hit you with another horror flick. This new one, titled, ‘Saint Maud’ follows a hospice nurse obsessed with salvation for her dying patient’s soul, “however, the lengths she’ll go to save that soul take her on a dark and twisted path.”
This film stars Morfydd Clark, Jennifer Ehle, Lilly Frazer and Lily Knight.
Rose Glass is the writer/director behind this flick. This could be her big break after only having directed short films previously.
Saint Maud premiered at the Toronto International Festival back in September and will hit theaters March 27, 2020.
