‘Wedding Crashers 2’ Is Getting Closer And Closer To Production

Way back in 2005, a comedy film titled ‘Wedding Crashers‘ swept the nation. The movie starred Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn and made nearly $300 million at the box office against a budget of just $40 million.

It was a success with critics and the general audience. And even still, years later, the movie is super popular and referenced often.

And now we are hearing that a sequel might be coming soon. A sequel has not been officially greenlit, but sources say a script has been completed and everyone at the studio loves it.

They did not say who wrote the script, but the original director David Dobkin has already started scouting locations in case the film is given the green light by New Line.

As far as the cast is concerned, Vaughn and Wilson are in early discussions to reprise their roles as Jeremy Grey and John Beckwith but nothing has been finalized, and conversations with Fisher and McAdams are unlikely to begin before the two leads are locked in — and they won’t come cheap.

Both Vaughn and Wilson know how successful the original film was. If they were to return, they’d want to be paid. That’s probably what it’ll come down to. Does the studio want to take a risk on this sequel? It could be another massive hit, or they could waste a bunch of money paying Vaughn and Wilson.

It’s difficult to know what exactly is happening with this sequel and just how close a deal is to being completed. Some reports claim a deal has been made in secret and filming is expected to begin in Puerto Rico in August.

But that report has not been confirmed. We’ll keep you posted.

Sequels are so hot right now. It doesn’t matter how old the original film is. No movie is safe. It’s been over 10 years since Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson delighted us with the hilarious Wedding Crashers. It was a massive hit, and probably the highlight of Wilson’s career.

As far as we know, no one has really been begging for a sequel, but that’s not going to stop Hollywood from making one.

Isla Fisher co-starred in the movie, and she has been doing a lot of interviews lately promoting her new film Nocturnal Animals. And during one of the interviews with the Today show, the actress talked about seeing Vaughn at a party recently.

“I bumped into Vince Vaughn at a party and he said that apparently we’re going to be making a sequel. So I’m really excited to see what’s happened to Gloria.”

She then later admitted that there was no “deal” in place, and she probably shouldn’t have mentioned it already. But still, if Vaughn is going around talking about it at parties, there is a decent chance it’s going to happen.

It’s almost like he’s trying to bring the crew back together like in D2: The Mighty Ducks:
