Watch The First Trailer For Billy Eichner’s Gay Rom-Com ‘Bros’

Billy Eichner is truly one-of-a-kind. His brand of humor is unique, and his Billy On The Street series is one of the greatest things to ever exist.

And now he’s taking his talents to the big screen with the upcoming gay rom-com, Bros. Billy wrote the film and stars in it as a character named Bobby Leiber: a highly successful gay man who tries to run away from love, only experiencing unfulfilling hookups through dating apps.

But then, it all changes when he meets a special someone, played by Luke Macfarlane. The movie is a major milestone as it is the first gay romantic comedy from a major studio featuring an entirely LGBTQ principal cast.

The movie was directed by Nicholas Stoller, and it should be a pretty big hit. Universal Studios released the film’s first trailer, so you can check it out below.

Bros will hit theaters September 30, 2022. In addition to Eichner and Macfarlane, the flick stars Bowen Yang, Jim Rash and Guillermo Diaz.

Billy Eichner’s Upcoming Gay Rom-Com Will Make History With All LGBTQ+ Cast

You probably know Billy Eichner from his hilarious ‘Billy on the Street’ show, where he basically fast walks across New York City yelling at people.

Here recently, he’s been getting more acting roles, and now he’s getting his own movie. He co-wrote a gay romantic comedy with Nicholas Stoller and the script was picked up by Universal Studios, which made him the first openly gay man to co-write and star in his own major studio film.

But now there’s even more history being made. It was just revealed that it’ll feature a historic all-LGBTQ+ principal cast. Even the straight characters inside the film will be played by gay actors.

Eichner had this to say in a statement:

I could not be more proud or excited about the historic nature of the all openly LGBTQ+ cast of Bros. After queer actors have spent decades watching straight actors capitalize both artistically and professionally by playing LGBTQ+ characters, it is a long overdue dream come true to be able to assemble this remarkable, hilarious cast.

He goes on to say while this might be the first movie of its kind, he hopes it’s not the last.

The flick is being described as a “smart, swoony and heartfelt comedy about two gay men maybe, possibly, probably, stumbling toward love. Maybe. They’re both very busy.”

This rom-com is currently tilted ‘Bros‘ and it’s set to be released by Universal Pictures on August 12, 2022.

Billy Eichner Will Write/Star In First Gay Rom-Com From A Major Studio

If you still don’t know who Billy Eichner is, that’ll be changing very soon. The comedian/actor became popular for harassing people on the streets of New York City.

His show, Billy on the Street, delivered lots of laughs…

And now he’s taking his comedic talent to Hollywood. According to a new report, Eichner will co-write/star in the romantic comedy Bros, which will be produced by Universal Studios.

He announced the news on his Twitter account:

In shocking news, BROS will be the first rom com about gay men ever produced by a major studio and, apparently, I’m the first openly gay man to ever write and star in their own studio film. Only took 100 years! THANKS HOLLYWOOD!!! Also, f**k my manager in 2006 who told me to be less gay because a big agent was coming to my show.

He’s co-writing the script with Nicholas Stoller, who will also direct the film. Stoller directed ‘Forgetting Sarah Marshall‘ back in 2008, so Eichner has a great partner in this.

It’s set to be released August 12, 2022. That’s a pretty prime release date, so the studio has complete faith in this flick.

Universal Studios Gets Us Excited For Halloween, Will Have A Haunted Attraction Based On The Horror Classic ‘The Shining’ (VIDEO)

You might want to plan a trip down to Orlando or California this Halloween. Universal Studios dropped some huge news this week. During this year’s Halloween Horror Nights, the theme park will feature an attraction based on Stanley Kubrick’s masterpiece The Shining.

The ride will channel the “unspeakable terror” of the 1980 film, and will “bring every gruesome moment and paranormal haunting that fans have seen in the film to life.”

Guests will try to escape the mazes inside the Overlook Hotel while “Jack Torrance violently succumbs to the hotel’s paranormal forces,” which admittedly does sound pretty frightening. Trying to get out of a maze is stressful enough, but trying to get out of a maze while also fearing for your life?

You can check out the teaser video they released at the bottom of this page. This will be the 27th year of Halloween Horror Nights. The annual after-dark event features several haunted houses and “scare zones” scattered throughout the park. It runs from Sept. 15 through Nov. 4.

If you can, you should definitely check it out this year.

‘Get Out’ Director Jordan Peele Locks First-Look Deal With Universal, Get The Details Inside!

After the success of Jordan Peele’s directorial debut ‘Get Out,‘ the studio who picked it up and distributed it wants more. Universal Studios announced this week that they have signed a two-year, first-look deal with Peele.

What does this mean? Well, Universal will be first in line to produce, invest, and/or distribute films put out by Peele and his production company, Monkeypaw Productions.

In addition to that, Peele will produce a “wide range of films” via Monkeypaw for Universal. He’ll also be teaming up again with Blumhouse’s Jason Blum. The two previously worked together on Get Out.

Peele’s next film is expected to be another social thriller. He will write, direct and produce it. He’ll also be working with a budget that is five times bigger than the budget for Get Out.

This is a huge score for Universal. Almost all of the major studios were trying to seduce Peele, but obviously Universal had the upper hand because they got in early with Peele’s debut. It’s kinda like how you’ll always be attached (on some level) to the person who took your virginity.

Universal Chairman Donna Langley released the following statement:

“Through extraordinary imagination and fearless humor, Jordan has proven himself to be a game-changer who is driven to tell stories that are as commercially entertaining as they are disruptive and provocative. The entire Universal family takes great pride in his incomparable filmmaking debut, and feel fortunate that this studio will be Jordan’s home for many years to come.”
