Good Guy Tom Hanks Donates Blood To Help Develop Coronavirus Vaccine

Tom Hanks was one of the first celebrities to be diagnosed with the novel coronavirus. Both he and his wife came down with the virus while preparing to film in Australia.

They were in quarantine for a few weeks in Australia before returning to the states after their symptoms cleared up.

Now both he and his wife Rita are donating their blood and plasma for coronavirus research.

A lot of the questions [are] what do we do now? Is there something we can do? And, in fact, we just found out that we do carry the antibodies. We have not only been approached, we have said, ‘Do you want our blood? Can we give plasma?’

In fact, we will be giving it now to the places that hope to work on what I would like to call the ‘Hank-ccine’

Hanks also talked a little more about the actual illness itself. He says that Rita had it worse than he did. She had a much higher fever and lost her ability to smell/taste for three weeks.

That’s now one of the common symptoms of the virus. Loss of a smell/taste. And from what we’ve read, it’s not the typical loss you might experience with a cold, where your sinuses are simply blocked.

This is more neurological. Your nose might be clear, but for some reason you can’t taste anything. Others say everything they tasted was sweet, even mouthwash.

It’s a strange virus, and every single day, we learn more about it. Hopefully in a few months, we’ll know how to treat it more effectively.

Jerry Seinfeld Set To Release First Comedy Special In Over 20 Years

The last time Jerry Seinfeld released an original stand-up special, Bill Clinton was president and the Furby was America’s hottest toy.

That was over 20 years ago, and now Seinfeld is ready to make a return to the stage. The 65-year-old comedian is set to release his upcoming stand-up special ‘23 Hours to Kill‘ on Netflix on May 5, 2020.

A trailer for the special was released. You can view it at the bottom of the page.

The trailer borrows from the infamous ‘Goldfinger’ scene in which the title villain threatens to slice a tied-down 007 in half with a laser — starting at his crotch. It turns out Seinfeld’s nemesis, a one-eyed ‘super villain,’ is having financial problems and wants Seinfeld to tell him how to earn ‘comedy-special money.’

In addition to spoofing James Bond, he’ll also talk about texting, bad buffets, pop tarts, and lots of other things in this special.

Shia LaBeouf, Florence Pugh And Chris Pine Set To Star In Olivia Wilde’s Thriller ‘Don’t Worry Darling’

Olivia Wilde made her feature directorial debut in 2019 with the comedy film Booksmart. The film was a hit with critics, but thanks to bad timing and poor marketing, it didn’t perform that well at the box office.

But still, studios were impressed with her performance, and now she’s set to direct her next film.

This time, she’s going with a psychological thriller titled ‘Don’t Worry Darling‘ and she has an all-star cast lined up.

Shia LaBeouf, Florence Pugh and Chris Pine are set to star. It’s being reported that Wilde will also have a supporting role in the film.

New Line considers the film a high priority, having landed the rights after a heated bidding war due to the acclaim of Wilde’s directorial debut ‘Booksmart.’

Not much is known about this project, but we do know it’s set in an isolated utopian community in the 1950s California desert.

No word on a potential release date, but don’t look for it anytime soon considering production is shut down in Hollywood at the moment.

Whitney Houston Biopic In The Works From ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ Screenwriter

Whitney Houston had a wild life, so it’s no surprise to learn that Hollywood is turning it into a feature film.

Oscar-nominated screenwriter Anthony McCarten is reportedly writing the script for the biopic. He’s the writer behind the recent Freddie Mercury/Queen biopic.

As of right now, they’re working with the titleI Wanna Dance With Somebody‘ and it’ll be a joint production between the Whitney Houston Estate, Primary Wave, and Clive Davis.

Stella Meghie, who helmed the recent romantic drama The Photograph starring Issa Rae and Lakeith Stanfield, is in negotiations to direct.

No word on who might play Houston in this biopic, but you know there are several actresses wanting the role. If done right, it’ll be an awards season contender. McCarten has a track record for writing Oscar worthy films.

As mentioned above, he wrote Bohemian Rhapsody, as well as the 2014 Stephen Hawking biopic, The Theory of Everything. Both male leads in those films (Rami Malek and Eddie Redmayne) won the award for Best Actor at the Academy Awards.

So yeah, the odds are looking good for this movie. Agents are probably allllll over this.

Apparently There Is New ‘Jackass’ Film Coming, And Its Release Date Has Been Pushed Back

Did you know a new ‘Jackass‘ film was in the works? The news must have slipped my mind because when I saw a headline saying the release date had been pushed back, I thought, “Wait, what?”

Apparently, news of this fourth Jackass film was announced back in December. The release date was scheduled for March 2021, but it has now been pushed back to July 2, 2021, likely due to the Coronavirus reshuffling.

This upcoming Jackass installment will be the first since ‘Jackass 3D’ was released in 2010. It’ll also be the first without cast member Ryan Dunn, who passed away in 2011.

Paramount has not announced which members of the show’s original cast, led by Johnny Knoxville, will return for the new film or if director Jeff Tremaine will take part.

Personally, I’m a fan of the Jackass films, so I’m looking forward to this movie.

I still remember this scene from I believe the first film. It’s stupid (like the rest of the film) but it’s pretty damn hilarious…

‘Venom’ Sequel Gets Official Title, But Has Its Release Date Pushed Back Several Months

The Governor of Georgia has announced that he will allow theaters to reopen next week, but that doesn’t mean they will open. In fact, all the major theater chains are expected to remain closed.

Not only would it be irresponsible to reopen right now, it would be an incredibly odd movie financially because there are no movies being released until at least July or August.

Most movies are still being pushed back, including Sony’s ‘Venom’ sequel. The studio gave the film an official title, ‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage‘ but moved the release date back.

It was expected to hit theaters October 5, 2020, but now it has been pushed back to June 25, 2021. That’s an eight month delay.

By postponing ‘Venom’ until next year, Sony has reshuffled nearly every movie scheduled to release in 2020. The studio already pushed back many of its major films — including ‘Morbius’ (from July 31, 2020, to March 19, 2021), ‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife’ (from July 10, 2020, to March 5, 2021) and Tom Holland’s ‘Uncharted’ (from March 5, 2021, to Oct. 8, 2021).

Sony is not taking any chances. Other studios have films lined up to be released in September, October, November and December of this year, but Sony is pushing most of their releases back to 2021.

As mentioned above, there are no major releases planned until at least late July and August, and it’s likely those might get pushed back as well.

So it wouldn’t make sense for theaters to open back up. If I had to guess, I’d say the majority of theaters won’t open until August. Maybe some in July, but who knows. It’s just a guess. I know nothing.

‘Hunger Games’ Director Francis Lawrence Returning To Direct Prequel Film

The original ‘Hunger Games‘ film hit theaters back in 2012. It’s hard to believe it’s been that long, but the dates don’t lie. The first film in the franchise was directed by Gary Ross, but the three following installations were directed by Francis Lawrence.

The movies were not only a hit with the general audience, but also with the critics, which is rare for a film franchise based on a young adult novel.

The last movie (Mockingjay Part Two) premiered back in 2015, and it was thought to be the end. But then the author of the novel series, Suzanne Collins, announced she was writing a prequel titled The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.

The novel, which is set some 60 years before the Hunger Games, is set to be released next month.

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes follows an 18-year-old Coriolanus Snow, who would eventually rise to become the authoritarian ruler of the dystopian nation of Panem, and the central villain of the original ‘Hunger Games’ series.

Even though the novel hasn’t been released yet, Lionsgate is ready to adapt it. It was just announced that Francis Lawrence would return to direct.

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes’ is creatively thrilling and takes this world to complex new dimensions that open up amazing cinematic possibilities. We’re thrilled to reunite this filmmaking team with this very unique franchise, and we can’t wait to begin production.

No word on a potential release date, but it’ll likely be late 2021 or perhaps more likely 2022.

Check Out The First Trailer For Netflix Comedy ‘The Wrong Missy’ Starring David Spade

David Spade is someone who probably doesn’t get enough credit. He seems to be an afterthought when people mention Adam Sandler or Chris Farley.

But Spade is a legitimately talented comedic actor. Joe Dirt is a classic (don’t tell me it’s not) and Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star is so underrated. The critics slammed that sh*t, but I remember owning the DVD and watching it several times.

Spade doesn’t always hit, but when he does, it’s usually pretty good.

And his loyal fans are hoping his latest Netflix film ‘The Wrong Missy‘ delivers. He stars as Tim Morris in the movie, a man who accidentally invites the wrong girl to his company retreat.

The hilarious Lauren Lapkus co-stars in the movie, alongside Sarah Chalke, Molly Sims, Nick Swardson and Rob Schneider.

The Wrong Missy will premiere on Netflix May 13. Check out the trailer below…

Val Kilmer Claims He Didn’t Want To Be In The Original ‘Top Gun’ But Begged To Be In Upcoming Sequel

The 1986 action flick ‘Top Gun‘ is a legit classic. The movie still holds up today. Tom Cruise stars in the movie as Maverick, and Val Kilmer landed the supporting ‘Iceman’ role.

The chemistry (tension/rivalry ) between them was outstanding. It’s one of the better parts of the film.

But believe it or not, Kilmer didn’t even want the part. In his new memoir, I’m Your Huckleberry, the now 60-year-old actor claims his agent begged him to audition.

I didn’t want the part. I didn’t care about the film. The story didn’t interest me. I read the lines indifferently and yet, amazingly, I was told I had the part. I felt more deflated than inflated. I had to get out of there.

Obviously it turned out to be a great decision. Hopefully he treated his agent to a nice dinner.

As you all know, a sequel to the film (Top Gun: Maverick) is scheduled to hit theaters this Christmas, and yes…Kilmer will be in it.

But only because he begged!

As the Temptations sang, ‘Ain’t too proud to beg.’ I’d not only contact the producers but create heartrending scenes with Iceman. Forget the fact that 30 years had passed … I remembered it like it was yesterday.

The producers went for it. Cruise went for it. Cruise couldn’t have been cooler. And the next thing I knew I was back. Tom and I took up where we left off. As far as the film’s plot goes, I’m sworn to secrecy.

In his memoir, he also talked about Cruise’s insane work ethic.

From day one he was laser-focused on a singular goal: to become the greatest action hero in the history of film. He was up nights learning lines, he spent every waking hour perfecting his stunts. His dedication was admirable.

Netflix Announces ‘The Lovebirds’ Release Date After Signing Streaming Deal With Paramount

Before the coronavirus pandemic closed all theaters, a romantic comedy titled ‘The Lovebirds‘ was set to be released on April 3.

The Paramount film stars Issa Rae and Kumail Nanjiani as a couple who accidentally get caught up in a murder and must fight to prove their innocence.

Lots of people were excited to watch this flick. It was even scheduled to premiere at the SXSW Film Festival in March, but of course that event was canceled as well.

So what did Paramount do? Well, instead of simply pushing the release date back, they decided to team up with Netflix. The studio made a streaming deal with Netflix. It’s an unusual deal, but one we might start seeing more of.

Netflix announced this week that the movie will be released on their site May 22.

Kumail shared the exciting news on his Twitter account…
