Steve Carell To Star In New Untitled Acme Movie, Inspired By Looney Tunes Cartoons

The Acme “Looney Tunes” project that has been in the works since 2010 has found some new momentum. Not only is the powerful writing duo of Zack Stentz and Ashley Miller (Thor, X-Men: First Class) on-board, but Steve Carell is now attached to the project.

He will reunite with Crazy Stupid Love directors, Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, to bring the Looney Tunes spin-off to life. And a spin-off is exactly what this film will be. The Hollywood Reporter claims this new film will not center around any familiar Looney Tunes characters.

The meat and potatoes of the film are still being hidden inside the slow cooker; however, we do know the Acme Corporation is the fictional manufacturer in the Looney Tunes cartoons. They were known for their crazy and dangerous products, which had a 99% chance of malfunctioning. Essentially, they are General Motors.

Reports say the movie is planned to be a CG/live-action hybrid. The Lego Movie’s Dan Lin and Roy Lee will produce the film. It’s important to remember the Acme project is still in the early stages, but it certainly looks like they are recruiting a talented team of creators.
