Leighton Meester is probably best known for her work on Gossip Girl, but she’s trying to make a name for herself outside the show as well.
The 35-year-old actress stars in the upcoming Netflix thriller, The Weekend Away. In addition to Meester, the film stars Luke Norris, Christina Wolfe, and Ziad Bakri.
The flick is based on Sarah Alderson’s novel of the same name. She also wrote the script for the film.
THE WEEKEND AWAY is an edge-of-your-seat thriller that follows two best friends on a vacation gone awry. When one of them goes missing, the other must prove her innocence but her efforts to get to the truth uncover painful secrets.
Certainly sounds like the plot of a novel. Honestly, I’m intrigued. Obviously this film isn’t going to win any awards, but for a boring Friday night? I think it could be very entertaining.
The thriller will premiere on Netflix on March 3, so you don’t have too long to wait.
