Paul Schrader Is Pissed That Producers Shut Down Production On His Film Days Before Completion

Uh-oh. Paul Schrader is not happy right now. He has been hard at work down in Mississippi filming his upcoming film, The Card Counter.

The indie flick, which stars Oscar Isaac, Willem Dafoe and Tiffany Haddish, was just five days away from being completed.

But unfortunately, producers had to step in and shut down the production after an actor on set tested positive for coronavirus.

Apparently, the actor flew in from Los Angeles and was only there to film a few scenes, but still, you can’t be too cautious in a situation like this.

Or maybe you can, according to a pissed off Schrader. He went on his Facebook account and wrote this message…

Production halted five days before wrap by my pussified producers because an LA day player had the coronavirus. Myself, I would have shot through hellfire rain to complete the film. I’m old and asthmatic, what better way to die than on the job?

Thing is, this crazy dude might not care if he dies, but what about all the other people on set? And yes, there are A LOT of people on the set of a movie. And what about their families? You can’t be selfish right now.

Hopefully Schrader has calmed down by now and has realized that the producers made the right call. I mean, what’s the rush in finishing the film? Ain’t no one going to the movies anytime soon.

‘Black Widow’ Release Has Been Canceled, Due To Coronavirus

The list of films being postponed due to the coronavirus just gets longer and longer.

The latest film? Black Widow. The Marvel superhero flick starring Scarlett Johansson was set to hit theaters May 1, but thanks to this pandemic, it’s being pushed back.

No word on when the new release date will be, but we will continue to keep you posted.

Studios are going to be making a lot of difficult decisions these next few months. The world will probably not get back to “normal” until July or August, and even then, will people have money to spend on movie tickets?

Who knows. It’s possible we don’t get any summer blockbusters this year, and if that happens, does everything release during the holidays?

Or do they push it back until next summer? And if they do that, what about the films that were already scheduled for next summer? DOES EVERYTHING GET PUSHED BACK A YEAR?

Or will they be forced to put some popular films in not-so-prime release dates, like in January and February of next year?

No Surprise, Coronavirus Crashes The Box Office, Causing Record Low Ticket Sales

We all knew this was coming, and it’s only going to get worse, now that several cities have closed movie theaters for at least the next two weeks.

It’s being reported that box office tickets sales dropped to their lowest levels in at least 20 years, thanks to the coronavirus.

Receipts totaled about $56 million in U.S. and Canada theaters, according to studio estimates Sunday. Not since September 2000 has weekend box office revenue been so low, according to data firm Comscore, when $54.5 million in tickets were sold on a quiet weekend. More people went to the movies the weekend after Sept. 11, 2001.

This coming weekend will likely be worse. In fact, it could be one of the lowest box office weekends in history, if more cities shutdown their theaters.

As most of you already know, several huge films have been pushed back, including A Quiet Place 2, Fast 9, Disney’s Mulan and the latest James Bond flick.

Expect more delays as the country attempts to get this virus under control.

‘Fast & Furious 9’ Being Pushed Back Nearly A Year, Due To Coronavirus

Vin Diesel always talks about how much he values family, and it looks like he’s backing up that claim.

Universal Studios and the rest of the ‘Fast & Furious‘ team has decided to push back the release of ‘Fast 9‘ to April 2, 2021. That’s right, it’s being pushed back nearly a year.

The movie was set to be released May 22, 2020, but due to the coronavirus, that release date won’t be possible. You see, the Fast & Furious franchise is global. It makes money all over the world, and with theaters closed in Italy, South Korea, and even China still, it would be a horrible idea to go ahead with the release.

And yeah, they could have simply pushed it back a few months (like some other films have done) but with a movie as big as this, you want to be sure.

So I don’t fault their thinking. Just go ahead and push it back until next year and focus on other things right now. People will still love fast cars and Vin Diesel’s tank-tops one year from now.

Thanks for caring about family, Universal. I mean, we know it’s really about money, but still…thanks.

James Bond Film ‘No Time to Die’ Pushed Back Several Months, Thanks To Coronavirus Fears

The upcoming James Bond film ‘No Time to Die‘ has suffered a lot of delays already. One major delay coming after Daniel Craig suffered an injury on set, which pushed back filming.

But finally, after months of waiting, fans were more than prepared to watch the next installment inside theaters come April 2, 2020. In fact, some people had already purchased tickets! Daniel Craig has been on a media tour promoting the film! IT IS HAPPENING!

Then the Coronavirus happened. The illness has spread throughout the world. It’s already costs China’s film industry billions of dollars, and it looks like major film studios are afraid to go up against this virus, in fear no one will show up at the theater.

So it was announced this week that ‘No Time to Die’ will be pushed back until November 25, 2020. The hope being that the spread of Coronavirus will be over by then.

No Time to Die’s decision could disrupt the release calendar. Other major tentpoles may now consider delaying their releases until coronavirus has been contained. Insiders said theater closures are having a huge impact on their bottom line, with revenues in places like Hong Kong and Taiwan plummeting nearly 50% and the box office drying up in Italy.

If this trend continues, this holiday season at the movies will be stacked with major films, even more so than usual.
