You probably remember Ellen Page from ‘Juno’ and more recently in the hit Netflix series ‘The Umbrella Academy’
The 33-year-old actor has had a successful career in Hollywood, and on Tuesday, Page made perhaps the biggest announcement of their career.
From now on, they will be Elliot Page. They revealed they are transgender and identify as non-binary, a term used to describe someone who doesn’t identify as a man nor a woman.
I feel lucky to be writing this. To be here. To have arrived at this place in my life. I feel overwhelming gratitude for the incredible people who have supported me along this journey. I can’t begin to express how remarkable it feels to finally love who I am enough to pursue my authentic self.
I also ask for patience. My joy is real, but it is also fragile. The truth is, despite feeling profoundly happy right now and knowing how much privilege I carry, I am also scared. I’m scared of the invasiveness, the hate, the ‘jokes’ and of violence.
They also added, “i love that I am trans. And I love that I am queer.”
The post has received over 500,000 likes and that number is growing rapidly.
As some of you may remember, Page announced she was gay back in 2014 and in 2018, Page married dancer/choreographer Emma Portner.
