‘Where the Crawdads Sing’ Lands $2.3 Million During Thursday Night Preview

The film adaptation of the bestselling novel ‘Where the Crawdads Sing‘ managed to earn $2.3 million at the Thursday night preview box office, and that’s honestly a pretty solid start.

I mean, heck, the blockbuster action-comedy ‘The Lost City‘ with Channing Tatum and Sandra Bullock brought in $2.5 million in its Thursday night previews back in March. That film went on to have a solid $31 million opening weekend.

Could Where the Crawdads Sing also break $30 million? It’s not likely. In fact, early projections had the movie bringing in around $10 million this weekend. However, with an impressive $2.3 million opening on Thursday, perhaps those projections go up closer to $15 million.

The critics have been “meh” on this film. It sits at a 45 score on MetaCritic, which indicates “mixed-to-average” reviews.

However, the general audience has enjoyed it so far.

Where the Crawdads Sings’ Thursday night audience loved it with a 93% positive audience score on Rotten Tomatoes and received a 4.5-star PostTrak exit.

Meanwhile, Disney/Marvel’s latest Thor flick is expected to dominate the box office again. Experts say it should make an additional $50 million this weekend.
