A lot of the top filmmakers in Hollywood have two or three actors they love to work with, and clearly, Tilda Swinton is one of Wes Anderson’s favorites.
They have previously worked together four times, so this upcoming project will be the fifth. There’s not a lot of information on this film, but it was reported this week that filming will start in Spain this September.
In a recent interview with Variety, Tilda Swinton revealed that she will star in the project, specific details of which are being kept closely under wraps. Though the film is shooting in Spain, ‘it’s not about Spain,’ Swinton hinted. Meanwhile, speaking to Variety from England, Anderson said he’s ‘not ready to share any details’ about the new film.
According to one report, the project was originally going to film in Rome, but at some point it was switched to Spain.
Insiders say sets resembling a desert landscape have been going up in a small town southeast of Madrid, but the film isn’t expected to be a Western. So who knows what the desert landscape could mean, if anything.
Anderson’s last film, The French Dispatch, is set to premiere at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival next month. It’s set for a wide release on October 22, 2021 after being delayed last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. And yes, Tilda Swinton stars in that one too.
We’ll keep you posted on this latest project.
