Charlize Theron Requested Protection From Tom Hardy On The Set Of ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’

‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ was nominated for ten awards at the 88th Academy Awards back in 2016. It won six out of ten. The movie was considered to be one of the best films of the year, but the making of the film? Well, it was one of the worst on set experiences for Charlize Theron.

In a new book detailing the behind-the-scenes drama of the movie, Theron revealed that her relationship with co-star Tom Hardy was so volatile that she requested protection from him on set.

The book, Blood, Sweat & Chrome: The Wild and True Story of Mad Max: Fury Road, was put together by journalist Kyle Buchanan.

According to a camera operator who worked on set, Hardy and Theron had been battling for weeks when things became explosive one memorable day. On this day, Theron and Hardy were scheduled to be on set at eight in the morning. Theron was always on time, but Hardy typically arrived late, especially during morning call times.

Charlize got there right at eight o’clock, sat in the War Rig, knowing that Tom’s never going to be there at eight even though they made a special request for him to be there on time. He was notorious for never being on time in the morning. If the call time was in the morning, forget it — he didn’t show up.

Whether that was some kind of power play or not, I don’t know, but it felt deliberately provocative.

He showed up three hours late to set that day, while Theron waited in full makeup and costume. Safe to say, she was pissed when he showed up.

She jumps out of the War Rig, and she starts swearing her head off at him, saying, ‘Fine the f**king cunt a hundred thousand dollars for every minute that he’s held up this crew She was right. Full rant. She screams it out. It’s so loud, it’s so windy — he might’ve heard some of it, but he charged up to her and went, ‘What did you say to me?’

He was quite aggressive. She really felt threatened, and that was the turning point.

After the incident, Theron didn’t feel safe around Hardy, so she requested that a female producer shadow her on set to speak up for her.

Theron admitted as much…

It got to a place where it was kind of out of hand, and there was a sense that maybe sending a woman producer down could maybe equalize some of it, because I didn’t feel safe. I kind of put my foot down. George then said, ‘Okay, well, if Denise comes…’ He was open to it and that kind of made me breathe a little bit, because it felt like I would have another woman understanding what I was up against.

Hardy admits he was in over his head while filming and that he felt so much pressure. He admittedly didn’t handle the situation well.

What she needed was a better, perhaps more experienced partner in me… I’d like to think that now that I’m older and uglier, I could rise to that occasion.

Tom Hardy Set To Star In Upcoming Gareth Evans’ Action Flick ‘Havoc’

41-year-old filmmaker Gareth Evans (The Raid) is having a good week. He recently signed an exclusive deal with Netflix to produce/direct films for the next several years.

And his first project? The action-thriller Havoc. A project he’s been working on for nearly a year now.

He had been searching for his lead, and it looks like he just found him. It was announced this week that Tom Hardy will star in the movie.

The story is set after a drug deal gone wrong, when a bruised detective must fight his way through a criminal underworld to rescue a politician’s estranged son, while unraveling a deep web of corruption and conspiracy that ensnares his entire city.

Evans will write, direct, and produce this film, so his signature will be all over it.

And that’s a good thing, because he has some extremely loyal fans.

Evans broke out with the 2009 action movie Merantau, and he’s coming off the acclaimed AMC series Gangs of London. In addition to handling writing and directing duties on his films, he’s also an award-winning editor and action choreographer who introduced the Indonesian martial art of Pencak Silat into world cinema with the Raid movies.

No word on a potential release date for Havoc, but we’ll keep you posted.

Watch Tom Hardy As Al Capone In First Trailer For ‘Capone’

We have a new trailer for you all! In this coronavirus dark period, it’s rare to see a new trailer release, so we get extremely excited when one becomes available.

On Wednesday, filmmaker Josh Trank shared the first trailer for ‘Capone‘ a biopic that follows the end of the infamous gangster Al Capone’s life.

Tom Hardy stars in the film as Capone, and as you can see in the trailer, Hardy was committed. He looks nearly unrecognizable. In addition to Hardy, this biopic also stars Matt Dillon, Linda Cardellini and Kyle MacLachlan.

This film was originally set to be released inside theaters, but thanks to the coronavirus, they’ll be releasing it digitally on May 12.

Although, Trank is still hopeful that it gets a release date inside theaters later this year.

‘Venom’ Breaks Record At The Box Office, Brings In $10 Million During Thursday Night Previews

Even though ‘Venom‘ is getting dragged by critics, fans are still coming out to support the Marvel/Sony flick.

The movie earned $10 million during its Thursday night opening, which means it broke the record for the top October preview of all time. It’ll expand into 4,250 theaters on Friday and most experts believe it’ll make around $60 million during its opening weekend, which should be enough to become the top October release in history. ‘Gravity‘ currently holds the record with $55.8 million.

As we mentioned above, Venom has been receiving mostly negative reviews. It has a 31% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Most critics are saying the script is sloppy and a bit predictable; however, others say even though the script could be better, Tom Hardy’s performance in the movie more than makes up for it.

Meanwhile, A Star is Born also opened in select theaters on Thursday. It earned a solid $4.6 million and could make $35 or $40 million this weekend. The rave reviews will certainly help the numbers grow.

Come Sunday/Monday, it’ll be super interesting to see the final totals for both these movies.

Watch The New Full Trailer For ‘Venom’ Starring Tom Hardy

This second official trailer for the upcoming ‘Venom‘ film is pretty impressive. Not only is packed with action like you might expect, but there are also sprinkles of humor in the trailer that we didn’t expect.

It looks like there is more “meat on the bones” to this film than your average superhero flick, which is obviously a good thing.

“Venom follows Tom Hardy’s Brock, a journalist who becomes host to an alien symbiote – a big, black glutinous thing with big teeth and a bigger tongue – as he squares off against Ahmed’s Dr. Carlton Drake, aka Riot.”

In addition to Tom Hardy, you’ll also find Michelle Williams, Reid Scott and Scott Haze in this movie.

It’s expected to hit theaters October 5, 2018, and I have to admit, I might give it a chance. Action/Comic-Book flicks aren’t typically my thing, but I’m really diggin’ this trailer.

Tom Hardy Releases New Trailer For ‘Venom’ Check It Out Inside!

Last week, Tom Hardy posted on Instagram and teased his fans by announcing he would bring “the thunder” at CinemaCon,and we’re happy to report he delivered on his promise.

The 40-year-old actor introduced a new trailer for ‘Venom‘ during Sony’s presentation at CinemaCon.

Deadline explains:

“The trailer displays more of the anti-hero than a first trailer that focused on Hardy’s alter ego Eddie Brock. ‘See, we didn’t forget to put Venom in the movie!’ Sony Motion Pictures boss Tom Rothman said in addressing criticism toward that first trailer that tried to heighten anticipation by largely leaving out the Spider-Man villain.”

In addition to Hardy, you’ll also find Michelle Williams and Tom Holland. It’s scheduled to hit theaters October 5, 2018.

Check out the trailer below…

Watch The First Trailer For Sony’s Standalone ‘Venom’ Movie

Tom Hardy’s spin-off Spider-Man film is set to be released later this year, and Sony just released the first trailer for the flick, which features Hardy as Spider-Man villain, Venom.

What’s odd is that this trailer doesn’t really feature Venom at all. It has action shots, things exploding, and people running all over the place, but it does not show Venom.

I mean, really…this is just your standard action-movie trailer. There isn’t anything special about it, and maybe Sony is doing this on purpose to not spoil anything, but it is possible to release a great, spoiler-free trailer as well. It doesn’t have to be one or the other.

Venom is set to hit theaters across the nation on October 5, 2018, so there is still plenty of time for Sony to release a better trailer.

The First Full Trailer For Christopher Nolan’s War Drama ‘Dunkirk’ Has Been Released

Back in August we showed you the first teaser trailer for Christopher Nolan’s latest film, Dunkirk. It was just one minute long and most of that minute was spent pumping up Nolan by reminding everyone about the previous films he has released.

Well, it’s December now, and we are finally getting our first real look at the World War II drama, which tells the story of the 10-day long battle and evacuation in the French city in 1940.

As with most Nolan movies, the cast is strong with this one. You have Tom Hardy, Kenneth Branagh, Mark Rylance, and even One Direction’s Harry Styles. That’s right, the lead singer of the former boy band will be making his big-screen debut in the film. You can watch him briefly in the trailer below as part of a group of young soldiers witnessing the madness around them.

One thing you have to respect Nolan for is his desire to be as authentic as possible. He spent a lot of money and put in a lot of hard work to capture the realism of the bloody battle.

Dunkirk will hit theaters July 21, 2017.

First Teaser Trailer For Christopher Nolan’s World War II Movie ‘Dunkirk’ Has Been Released (VIDEO)

nol

Christopher Nolan has made a World War II movie, and it will feature Harry Styles in his first film role. That’s not something I thought I would ever type, but it’s 2016 and nothing really makes sense anymore. We have to embrace the madness or it’ll eat us for dinner.

The movie will tell the story of Operation Dynamo: “a last-ditch effort to evacuate 300,000 Allied troops who were surrounded by Nazi troops in the French seaport of Dunkirk.”

One of the unique things about this particular story is that it hasn’t been told on the big screen, so Nolan’s first adventure into the crowded World War II arena will be a unique one. That doesn’t mean it will be good, but at least it will be fresh.

Dunkirk stars Kenneth Branagh, Tom Hardy, Mark Rylance, Jack Lowden and the aforementioned Mr. Styles. This teaser trailer is the ultimate tease. It doesn’t reveal any story details, but it’s pretty tense for such a short clip, which is a good sign. Another good sign? Nolan tried to keep things as authentic as possible. Most of the film was shot in Dunkirk and he was reportedly given $5 million to purchase a vintage World War II aircraft.

The film will hit a theater near you July 21, 2017.

Christopher Nolan Will Direct WWII Thriller ‘Dunkirk’, Big Names Already Being Attached To The Film!

dunn

It’s a question Hollywood has been asking for months: What will be Christopher Nolan‘s next film? After the great success of Interstellar, which project would Nolan focus on next?

We finally have our answer. Variety is reporting that Nolan will direct the WWII film Dunkirk, which is about the evacuation of the northern French city of the same name. According to the reports, Nolan is also responsible for writing the screenplay for this film.

Obviously, casting details haven’t been confirmed this early in the game, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t some rumors floating around. Sources say Kenneth Branagh (Wallander, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit), Mark Rylance (Bridge of Spies), and Tom Hardy (Mad Max: Fury Road) are currently in talks to star in the movie.

Greg Silverman, President, Creative Development and Worldwide Production for Warner Bros. told Variety the following…

“We are thrilled to be continuing our collaboration with Christopher Nolan, a singular filmmaker who has created some of the most critically acclaimed and commercially successful films of all time. Dunkirk is a gripping and powerful story and we are excited to see Chris, Emma and their cast realize it on the big screen.”

Production on this film will be moving fast. Reports claim shooting will begin in May of 2016 and the release date is scheduled for July 21, 2017.
