Disney’s Beauty and the Beast Teaser Trailer Breaks Impressive Record Set By Star Wars Film

emas

We thought the cluster of records set by Star Wars: The Force Awakens would be safe for at least a year, but Disney’s live-action reimagining of Beauty and the Beast has jumped in the race to say, “Hey, we’re stronger than the force. We are the force.”

The teaser trailer for the film dropped earlier this week, and it was watched 91.8 million times in the first 24 hours of its release, which easily breaks the previous record set by the second teaser for The Force Awakens. It had 88 million views in 24 hours.

It has been fascinating to watch the progression of this movie. When Disney first announced they were making a live-action retelling of another classic film, the internet was understandably a little skeptical. But then they revealed Emma Watson would be starring as Belle, and people were like, “Hm, okay. This could be good.

And now after seeing the first teaser, excitement continues to increase. Best part about it? The film doesn’t hit theaters until March 17, 2017. Disney still has almost a full year to tease fans.

If you want more Beauty and the Beast, check out the neat video below. YouTube user StudiOrbit compared the original teaser trailer for the 1991 film, to the recent trailer for the live-action version.

Fan Of Star Wars? Here Is How You Can Win A Trip To Skellig Michael While Also Being A Good Person

ske

Yeah, Star Wars: The Force Awakens made a ridiculous amount of money (over $2 billion) at the worldwide box office. And you might see that number and roll your eyes, “Great. The rich just get richer.

We can’t argue with that, but the brilliant folks at Lucasfilm have not only been using the popularity of the Star Wars franchise to put more money in their bank accounts, they have also used the worldwide success to raise money for several worthy causes.

Their most recent campaign was revealed this week. The Star Wars: Force for Change campaign has announced a new contest, which gives fans the opportunity to win a trip to Skellig Michael, the location of the final scene in The Force Awakens.

Starting today (April 5) Force for Change will match the donations of Star Wars fans to four select charities up to $1,000,000.

“This month-long campaign will lead up to ‘Star Wars Day’ on May the 4th. The four select charities include the U.S. Fund for UNICEF in support of UNICEF Kid Power, American Red Cross, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, and Make-A-Wish.”

Fans are able to donate through CrowdRise.com/ForceForChange, and if you donate at least $10, you’ll have the chance to win that trip of a lifetime to Ireland. There is also a “first week challenge” going on right now. The first 20 fans to donate or raise at least $500 could win a Blu-ray of the Force Awakens signed by the cast of the film.

Even if you’re not a Star Wars fan, drop a $10 spot on this and if you win, give the trip to someone who is a fan. Can you imagine all the good that would be coming back to you?

Freshly baked cookies would just start appearing at your doorstep.

Pretend To Be Shocked: ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Marches Past ‘Avatar’ To Become No. 1 Film Of All Time!

Congratulations, J.J. Abrams and the rest of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens crew. Your movie is officially the highest-grossing film of all time in North America, if you don’t adjust for inflation.

After just 20 days of being released, Star Wars is the king. It took in a little over $6 million on Wednesday, which moved its domestic total to $764.4 million, easily clearing the previous record of $760.5 million by Avatar. Titanic and Jurassic World come in at number three and four.

In addition to breaking this impressive record, Star Wars also holds domestic records for biggest second weekend of all time, biggest Christmas Day total, biggest third weekend and biggest New Year’s Day. Basically, any record you want to create, The Force Awakens just smashed it.

What about its worldwide totals? Well, it’s already broken a few worldwide records as well, but it currently sits at number four on the worldwide box office list. It sits behind Jurassic World, Titanic and Avatar. Experts believe it will end with a worldwide total between $2.2 billion to $2.4 billion, which would put it safely in the number two position.

Check out the message released by StarWars.com below…

“We are proud of these records, but know that they would not be possible without fans’ enthusiasm and continued support. We feel it here and it drives us every day, and it will continue to in the very bright future of Star Wars. There has indeed been an awakening — and it’s all thanks to you.”

‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Becomes First Film To Reach $1 Billion Mark In Just 12 Days

The 12 days of Christmas? Forget that. Let’s focus on the 12 days of Starmas. The Force Awakens continues to break just about every box office record there is to break. On Sunday, Disney announced that the film broke the $1 billion mark around the world faster than any other movie in history.

During the all-important Christmas weekend, Star Wars took home $153.5 million domestically. Not only was that the biggest number for the holiday weekend, but it was also the best second weekend for a film in box office history. No film came close to touching Star Wars over the weekend, Daddy’s Home was second with $38.8 million.

Before Star Wars reached $1 billion worldwide in 12 days, it was Jurassic World who held the record at 13 days. But get this, The Force Awakens hasn’t even opened in China (the world’s second-largest movie market) yet. It won’t be released there until Jan. 9.

Box office analyst Paul Dergarabedian of Rentrak is amazed, “You almost have to rewrite all the record books for this movie.” He told Fox News.

Disney will certainly have a lot to celebrate in 2016. By the way, the film has a 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and some people believe it might take home some awards.

Fans love it. Critics love it. The world loves it. Your dog probably even loves it.

As Expected, ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Had Most Successful Opening Weekend Ever, Get The Impressive Total Inside!

Even though Disney was like, “Hey, dudes. Chill…we might not break any records,” we all knew the truth. Star Wars: The Force Awakens was always going to shatter almost every box office record in history. The only question was just how much the opening weekend would bring in.

We have our answer now. The film had the largest opening in North America in history with an impressive $238 million opening weekend. The previous record holder was Jurassic World at $208.8 million, which proves the general audience doesn’t want original stories as much as they claim. Why start a new franchise when you can just make loads of money off an existing one? It’s a great business decision in a previously creative world.

Surprisingly, Jurassic World still has the title for the biggest opening globally. Star Wars brought home $517 million worldwide while Jurassic World had a worldwide opening of $525 million.

An analyst with Exhibitor Relations told Variety the following…

“This is a record that will stand for a long time. This gives us an idea of how much a movie can make on a particular weekend.”

And Disney will continue to make money off this franchise. They are currently working on four more Star Wars-related movies.

Watch: Quentin Tarantino Slams Disney Over Forcing ‘Hateful Eight’ Out Of L.A. Cinerama For ‘Star Wars’ (VIDEO)

ques

While fans around the country prepare to watch the first screenings of Star Wars: The Force Awakens tonight, Quentin Tarantino and Disney appear to be in their own little war. The legendary filmmaker went on the Howard Stern show earlier this week to talk about his upcoming film, The Hateful Eight.

He revealed that he received some terrible news on Monday. His film won’t be playing at the L.A. Cinerama Dome on Christmas like he thought it would. Instead, the new Star Wars movie will play at the theater through the holiday season.

The director claims he had a contract with ArcLight, the cinema’s owners, but Disney forced the chain to break the contract by threatening to pull Star Wars from every ArcLight location, which would obviously be a disaster. It’s something they just can’t afford to do, so they were forced to push Quentin’s movie out of the Cinerama Dome. This is a big deal to Tarantino because the theater means a lot to him. The Cinerama logo even appears in the opening credits of The Hateful Eight.

Tarantino told Stern, “They are going out of their way to f— me. It’s vindictive, it’s mean, and it’s extortion.” You can watch his full rant in the video below.

We should note that it appears he might have been confused. Maybe he received wrong information, because sources claim Disney secured the spot months ago and they were always going to play through the holidays. And Deadline reports that fans had an option to buy holiday tickets for Star Wars at the Dome when they first went on sale back in October.

Either way, it would be nice if Disney allowed Tarantino to have the spot after this week is up. Star Wars doesn’t need this one venue for more than two weeks. It’s clear this is important to Tarantino. You can see just how emotional he gets in the video.

‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Brings In $100 Million In Ticket Pre-Orders, Critics Claim The Magic Has Returned!

stars

It’s all good news for Disney and the incredibly successful Star Wars franchise. We all knew Star Wars: The Force Awakens was going to break records at the box office, but we didn’t know it would take the records and absolutely smash them Conor McGregor-style.

Check out this amazing fact. The film hasn’t even been released yet, and it’s already the 25th highest-grossing movie domestically of 2015. That’s all thanks to the advance ticket sales, which have now jumped over the $100 million mark. The previous record holder was The Dark Knight Rises at a paltry $25 million. Even with the early success, Disney is trying their best to pooh-pooh all over the “record-breaking” projections.

But we think it’s time they open their arms and just accept the madness, because Star Wars 7 just got the last thing it needed to guarantee its special place in history:  approval from the critics.

The early reactions from critics have been mostly positive, as you can see by the (spoiler free) tweets below…

Just how much money could this film take home?  It’s too early to say, but there are some experts who believe it will see the biggest opening weekend in box office history.

We’ll keep you posted. In the meantime, have fun watching Star Wars 7 this weekend. Don’t expect to find an empty seat.

‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Is Already Breaking Records, Brings In $50 Million In Early Ticket Sales

star

We still have a month to go before Star Wars: The Force Awakens takes over every single theater on the planet, but the film is already breaking records. The seventh film in the franchise has generated more than $50 million in advance ticket sales.

That’s right, folks. Some Hollywood movies don’t even make $50 million in their entire run at the box office. Star Wars just made it four weeks before its release! According to Fandango, Star Wars 7 is now the biggest pre-seller in movie history, easily beating the first Hunger Games movie and The Dark Knight Rises.

Tickets for opening night are being sold for a ridiculous amount of money online, but according to most reports we’ve seen, you should still be able to find tickets directly from your local theaters. Most of the IMAX screenings have been sold out, but if you’re willing to check it out in the regular format, finding a ticket shouldn’t be too hard.

The impressive early numbers have the experts talking. Just how much money will this film bring in? Disney CEO Bob Iger is trying to play down expectations, but some people believe they could be looking at a $300 million opening weekend, which would crush Jurassic World‘s $208.8 million total.

If Star Wars brings in close to $300 million, it will change the Christmas game forever. December has always been a difficult month for big movies at the box office. No film has ever earned $100 million in December. The current record holder for the month is The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey‘s $85 million opening.

Terminally ill Star Wars Fan Gets His Dying Wish, Watches Early ‘The Force Awakens’ Screening!

stas

Have you seen “#ForceforDaniel” pop up on your Twitter feed this week and wondered what it was all about? Well, it was a Twitter campaign that was created to help convince Disney, Bad Robot Productions, and Lucasfilm to show Daniel Fleetwood the latest film in the Star Wars series a few weeks early.

The 32-year-old man is a HUGE Star Wars fan, and just like every other fan of the franchise, he was incredibly excited when he heard they were making a new movie. But sadly, back in July he was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer and was given just two months to live.

Daniel’s wife, Ashley, got the Twitter movement started by sharing a photo of her husband with the caption, #forcefordaniel help my man get his last wish, to see a screening of Star Wars before cancer takes him. @bad_robot.”

And the internet delivered. The hashtag managed to get retweets from Star Wars actors John Boyega and Mark Hamill, and eventually director J.J. Abrams heard about it and decided to make Fleetwood’s dream come true.

The Force Awakens was screened for him at his house just one day after receiving a special call from Abrams.

Obviously, Daniel isn’t allowed to give out any spoilers, but his wife confirmed it was an “amazing experience” for him. That’s the only review we need.

Three Of The Biggest Theater Chains Announce Strict Costume Restrictions For Star Wars: The Force Awakens

star

You might want to read the list of rules theater chains across the U.S. are sending out before you design that amazing costume you had planned for Star Wars: The Force Awakens opening night.

AMC Theaters, Regal Cinemas and Cinemark are taking extra precautions after the multiple theater shootings that have happened in the past few years. AMC is offering up some warnings to Star Wars fans, making it clear they won’t be afraid to turn some people away.

“AMC does not permit weapons or items that would make other guests feel uncomfortable or detract from the movie-going experience. Guests are welcome to come dressed in costume, but we do not permit masks. In short, bring your lightsaber, turn it off during the movie, and leave the blaster and Darth Vader mask at home.”

Basically, don’t wear a costume that hides your face. And even though they say no weapons, it looks like they will allow you to bring your lightsaber, which is actually something Cinemark warns against doing…

“Star Wars costumes are welcome. However, no face coverings, face paint, or simulated weapons (including lightsabers/blasters) will be allowed in the building.”

And Regal Cinemas have pretty much put out the same rules, announcing on their Twitter account that costumes are welcome, but you can’t cover your face or bring in “weapon-like props.”

Even with the early warnings, there will still be a lot of confusion in December. AMC’s statement leaves the door open by saying, “or items that would make other guests feel uncomfortable.” That’s intentionally vague. Say you are allowed inside the theater, but then someone inside complains about something on your costume, you might be asked to take it off.
