The First Trailer For Ron Howard’s ‘Thirteen Lives’ Has Dropped, Thai Cave Rescue Drama

Amazon Prime Video has released the first trailer for the upcoming drama/thriller, Thirteen Lives, from director Ron Howard.

The film is based on the events from the 2018 Tham Luang cave rescue.

In June and July 2018, the members of a junior football team were trapped for 18 days in Thailand’s Tham Luang Nang Non cave, after heavy rainfall flooded the cave system and blocked their way out. As the team – who ranged in age from 11-16 years old – and their coach remained trapped for weeks, the situation attracted global interest and an international rescue team was assembled to locate them.

This upcoming film will chronicle the events of the rescue and focus on the efforts of the divers who worked to save the team members.

Colin Farrell and Viggo Mortensen lead the cast. They’ll be starring as Rick Stanton and John Volanthen, the British cave divers who volunteered their expertise to help find the team members. Joel Edgerton and  Sahajak ‘Poo’ Boonthanakit also star.

This flick was originally set with MGM, and was set for a release date in November, but now that it’s with Amazon, it’s scheduled to have a limited run in theaters starting on July 29, before a release on Prime Video on August 5.

Check Out The First Trailer For Ron Howard’s Oscar Contender ‘Hillbilly Elegy’

There haven’t been a lot of Oscar-worthy films released this year, due to the pandemic, which has basically shut Hollywood down.

But now that we’re entering the fall/winter months, we’re slowly starting to see better films being released/promoted. For example, Netflix just dropped the first trailer for Ron Howard’s upcoming film, Hillbilly Elegy.

The addiction drama stars Glenn Close, Amy Adams and Freida Pinto. The project is based on the New York Times best-selling memoir ‘Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis’

It follows one woman’s journey with opioid addiction and its impact on the lives of her son and mother, played by Close. When a family crisis arises just as he’s earned an interview for his dream job, Yale Law student J.D. Vance (Gabriel Basso) struggles with his decision to go back to his Appalachian home in Southern Ohio.

The cast is impressive, the trailer looks great, and with Ron Howard directing, this has the potential to take home some awards.

It’s set to hit select theaters in November before a Netflix release date of November 24, 2020.

The ‘Star Wars’ Han Solo Film Finally Has A Title, Find Out What It Is Inside! (VIDEO)

I’m not the biggest Star Wars fan in the world. Actually, I’m not a fan at all. I don’t have anything against the franchise, it’s just never been my cup of tea. So I’m not going to sit here and be all, “OMG! HAN SOLO FILM HAS AN OFFICIAL TITLE…WHAT DOES IT MEAN?”

I don’t like fake excitement, and you shouldn’t either. That being said, I know there are millions of Star Wars fans out there who are excited about this news, so let’s get to the good stuff.

Director Ron Howard went on his Twitter account Tuesday morning and revealed they had just wrapped production on the movie. He also announced what the title of this movie will be, Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Some of you may remember that Howard took over as director back in August after Phil Lord and Chris Miller were let go due to their disagreements with Lucasfilm chief Kathleen Kennedy. A source told Variety, “It was a culture clash from day one. She didn’t even like the way they folded their socks.”

According to the reports, this film will follow the “young Han Solo — a 20-something version of Harrison Ford’s character — and Chewbacca’s adventures before joining the Rebellion, including their encounters with Lando Calrissian.”

Solo: A Star Wars Story is set to hit theaters May 25, 2018.

Ron Howard Moves In To Direct ‘Star Wars’ Han Solo Movie, Phil Lord And Chris Miller Let Go From Project

Directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller spent four-and-a-half months directing Disney’s untitled Han Solo movie, but unfortunately they won’t be there at the finish line.

The studio announced earlier this week that they were letting Miller and Lord go because of creative differences over style and tone between them and veteran screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan.

It was huge news in Hollywood because the project was three-quarters through principal photography. It’s extremely rare for a director to be replaced at this stage.

But it happened, and now we are learning that Ron Howard will take over the the film. Lucasfilm announced the news on Thursday…

“At Lucasfilm, we believe the highest goal of each film is to delight, carrying forward the spirit of the saga that George Lucas began forty years ago. With that in mind, we’re thrilled to announce that Ron Howard will step in to direct the untitled Han Solo film. We have a wonderful script, an incredible cast and crew, and the absolute commitment to make a great movie.”

As for Lord and Miller, well they aren’t carrying any bad feelings around with them. They sent out a statement saying that for once, the tired phrase “creative differences” is true…

“Unfortunately, our vision and process weren’t aligned with our partners on this project. We normally aren’t fans of the phrase ‘creative differences’ but for once this cliché is true.”

The untitled spinoff is expected to hit theaters on May 25, 2018.

It Looks Like Ron Howard Will Direct Robert Downey Jr.’s Live Action Pinocchio Movie

ronn

Robert Downey Jr. has been working hard for several years to get his live-action adaptation of Pinocchio on the big screen, and it finally looks like it’s going to happen. At first, it was the brilliant filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson attached to the project, but according to a new report from The Tracking Board, Ron Howard has now agreed to direct the film.

He will also produce the film with his longtime producing partner Brian Grazer. Robert Downey Jr. will also join the producing team and will take on the important role of Pinocchio’s creator/father, Geppetto.

Details surrounding the plot are hard to find at the moment; however, The Tracking Board reports the story will focus more on Downey’s Geppetto as he sets out on an adventure to find his missing son. It certainly sounds interesting, and it should be fun to watch RDJ take on a new role.

No release date has been announced, but it should be Ron Howard’s next project, so hopefully more details will be coming soon. He just recently finished work on the third installment of The Da Vinci Code franchise, Inferno. It’s scheduled to be released October 14, 2016.
