Matthew Lillard Is NOT Happy After Being Replaced In Upcoming ‘Scooby Doo’ Film

For the longest time, Matthew Lillard has been known as Shaggy. He’s been in Hollywood for years, and you’ve probably seen him pop up on your TV or theater screen several times. Most recently, he surprised people with his great performance in Twin Peaks.

But still, he’s best known as Shaggy. He is THE Shaggy. He has played the lovable Scooby-Doo character since 2002. He starred in both ‘Scooby-Doo‘ and ‘Scooby-Doo: Monsters Unleashed‘. He’s also been the voice of Shaggy for at least 10 other Scooby-Doo projects throughout the years, including the animated TV series, ‘Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated’.

No one knows Shaggy better than Lillard, but for some reason, Hollywood has decided to replace him. A new ‘Scooby-Doo’ animated feature film will be coming soon, and Will Forte is set to voice Shaggy. Gina Rodriguez is set to voice Velma.

And it’s safe to say, Lillard was not happy to learn about this news…

Obviously Hollywood is not required to give him the role of Shaggy simply because he’s been playing him for so long, but still, it’s a low blow. They at least could have told him. I mean, why did they need to replace him with Forte? It’s not like Lillard wasn’t an acceptable Shaggy. Strange.
