50 Shades of Grey Trailer Released. Does it live up to the Hype?

Well the wait is over.  The official trailer for 50 Shades was released today and women everywhere are either disappointed or utterly thrilled.  Personally, I think the role of Christian Grey could have been casted much better.  I thought Dornan was a risk, Dornan with a beard could possibly pull it off. Clean faced Dornan..ehhhhh…..we’ll have to see.

WITHOUT BEARD

FILE: Jamie Dornan Cast As Christian Grey In 'Fifty Shades of Grey'

Beard says power mogul, no beard says up and coming business man on the rise.  I believe the character as written should be all mogul.   Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele is Ok.  She will do just fine.

The other issue is with a film like this, it’s hard to match the hype of the book. When you have a Harry Potter or a Game of Thrones, the entire setting is fantasy.  So it’s easy to appeal to the senses with colorful characters and CGI.  A move like this will be purely actor charisma, chemistry and the directors ability to paint the visual.

I thought the initial released promotional poster did a good job of wetting our beaks.  The trailer however, falls flat.  There are mixed reviews but I think at the end of the day women will turn out in droves.  Social media will play it up, including websites like this and women will be all fired up.  It will be an excuse for a girls night out.  However with a Valentine’s Day release in 2015, the question will be, do you spend the night with your significant other, or Christian Grey?
