Jordan Peele Has Wrapped Filming On Mystery Project ‘Nope’

We have some good news for all you Jordan Peele fans! Filming has been completed on his most recent feature, Nope. It’ll be his third feature following the success of ‘Get Out’ and ‘Us’

Not much is known about this movie, but we do know it was shot on Kodak film, including 65mm film in IMAX format. So he shot this film for IMAX, which probably means he’s working with the biggest budget he’s ever worked with.

I’d expect this film to be “bigger” than his previous films. We know it has an impressive cast, which includes Keke Palmer, Daniel Kaluuya and Steven Yeun.

We also know that Hoyte van Hoytema served as the cinematographer, which is pretty significant. Hoytema has worked on big films like Dunkirk, Interstellar and Tenet.

It’s clear Peele wanted to work with the best of the best for this feature. We still don’t know any details surrounding the film’s plot, but the poster is giving us a sci-fi/horror vibe.

‘Nope’ is expected to hit theaters on July 22, 2022, which means a trailer should drop sometime in late winter/early spring 2022. We’ll keep you posted.

Jordan Peele Drops Surprise Poster For His New Movie Titled ‘Nope’ With Daniel Kaluuya

We have been waiting months to hear more about Jordan Peele’s latest flick, and thankfully today (July 22) we’re getting a little more information. Just a little though.

The filmmaker revealed the title and the first poster for his next project. The movie is titled ‘Nope‘ and it’s set to star Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer and Steven Yeun. As most of you know, Peele previously worked with Oscar-winner Kaluuya on his debut feature, Get Out.

Check out the poster below…

What does it mean? No idea. We don’t really know anything else about the project, beyond the cast, title, release date and this poster.

He didn’t even provide us with a logline, and he probably won’t for a long time. We probably won’t get more information until the trailer drops sometime early next year, at least that’s our best guess.

Of note, on the IMDB page for this project, there’s an actor credited as a “Fry’s Customer” and an actor credited as “Kid Sheriff”

What does that tell us? Not sure. Fry’s was a big box electronics store, which recently shut down all stores due to the changes in the retail industry and COVID-19. So it’s possible one of the characters works at a Fry’s, or maybe some aliens take over a store. Or maybe all the electronics in the world cause some sort of mayhem.

I DON’T KNOW! WHY IS THERE A KID SHERIFF? We’ll just have to wait for more answers.

The Thriller Film ‘Karen’ Just Dropped Its First Trailer, And It Looks Absolutely…HILARIOUS?

I’m not sure the filmmakers behind ‘Karen‘ were going for outrageous comedy when they made the film, but it’s clear that’s what they got.

The first trailer for the film was dropped this past week, and it’s made a lot of noise online, mostly from people clowning on just how bad it looks.

‘Karen’ was directed by Coke Daniels and stars Taryn Manning (Orange is the New Black) in the titular role. The plot is pretty simple. A black family moves to a new neighborhood and is basically terrorized by their white neighbor, appropriately named Karen.

They have described this film as a ‘thriller’ so we’re assuming they weren’t actively trying to make a comedy, which somehow makes the trailer even more hilarious.

Several people on Twitter called out the filmmakers for trying to be Jordan Peele and failing terribly…

No release date has been announced, but we’ll be watching out for one.

Check out the trailer below…

‘Minari’ Star Steven Yeun Set To Join Jordan Peele’s Upcoming Horror Film

Steven Yeun first became a household name for his work on ‘The Walking Dead‘ and now it looks like he might be going back to the horror genre.

After starring in the Oscar-nominated film ‘Minari’ Yeun is currently in negotiations to star in Jordan Peele’s next horror feature.

If the deal becomes official, he’ll be joining Keke Palmer and Daniel Kaluuya.

Deadline was first to break the news:

It would mark the first collaboration between Peele and Kaluuya since the Best Picture-nominated Get Out, which earned Kaluuya a nomination for best actor while Peele won for best original screenplay.

Besides directing and writing the pic, Peele will also produce alongside Ian Cooper for their Monkeypaw Productions, via the company’s exclusive five-year deal with Universal.

As always with Peele’s projects, the plot details remain under wraps. You typically don’t hear much about the details until the first trailer is released, and even then you’re kinda like, “Wait, what?” and hell sometimes, you don’t even know what the movie was about until two weeks after you watch it.

This latest film is expected to be released July 22, 2022, so filming will most likely start in the fall of 2021.

We’ll keep you posted.

Keke Palmer And Daniel Kaluuya In Talks To Star In Jordan Peele’s New Secret Project

Everyone is waiting to see what Jordan Peele puts out next. He’s had two massive hits so far, with Get Out and Us. Both films have been huge hits with the general audience and critics.

And now, people are wondering what he has up his sleeve next. His next project, which is currently scheduled to be released by Paramount on July 22, 2022, is under a cloud of mystery.

No one knows exactly what the story is about, but we do know that Peele has potentially found his two leads.

According to a report from Deadline, Keke Palmer is set to star in the movie. The report seems to hint that a deal has already closed for her.

Meanwhile, it’s also being reported that Daniel Kaluuya is deep in negotiations to co-star. His deal has not closed, but it seems likely at this point.

As most of you probably remember, Kaluuya starred in Peele’s ‘Get Out’ back in 2017. Since then, Kaluuya has been hot in Hollywood, just recently starring in the impressive film, Judas and the Black Messiah. He could potentially win a few awards for his performance.

We’ll keep you posted on this upcoming film from Peele, but don’t expect to hear any plot details until a few months before the film is released. That’s just how Peele operates.

Jordan Peele And Issa Rae Join Universal Pictures Mystery Drama ‘Sinkhole’

The dream team? Quite possibly! According to a new report, Jordan Peele and Issa Rae have jumped on board Universal Pictures’ family drama, Sinkhole, which is based on a short story by Leyna Krow.

The plan is for Rae to star in the film and for Peele to produce.

The story centers on a young family knowingly moving into a house with a sinkhole in the backyard and discovering that the sinkhole that manages to take all things that are broken and destroyed and make them perfect again.

No word on if Peele’s involvement will stop at the producer level, or if he’ll decide he wants to direct/write as well.

This news is still pretty fresh, so not much is known, but we’re sure more will be released soon.

As for Rae, she’s riding high right now. Yesterday, she received Emmy nominations for her comedy series ‘Insecure’ which has been a huge hit for HBO.

The Jordan Peele Produced ‘Candyman’ Has Its Release Date Pushed Back A Few Months

Most people have been referring to this upcoming ‘Candyman‘ reboot as “Jordan Peele’s Candyman” but it is not Peele’s film, at least not entirely.

Yes, he did help write the script and he produced the movie, but he’s not the director. This reboot is actually being directed by Nia DaCosta, the writer/director behind the 2018 indie flick, Little Woods.

People were pretty hyped for Candyman, especially after the highly entertaining trailer was released earlier this year.

Sadly, people are going to have to wait a few extra months to see it. The horror remake was set to be released June 12, but thanks to the coronavirus pandemic, it’s being pushed back until September 25.

And like we have been mentioning, this reshuffling of release dates for the major films is going to cause some mayhem with the distribution schedule for studios. Smaller films might get pushed off the schedule completely.

Universal was set to release a musical drama centered around the world of youth choirs titled ‘Praise This’ on September 25, but now it has been removed from the schedule. No new release date has been announced.

‘Us’ Has Record Breaking $70 Million Opening Weekend At Box Office

We love being right. Last week, we told you that the experts were predicting Jordan Peele’s latest horror film ‘Us‘ would take home around $45 or $50 million during its opening weekend, which would have been acceptable.

But we knew the projections were off. We told you ‘Us’ had a great chance of hitting the $70 million mark, and guess what? It did just that.

Peele is celebrating today after his second directorial effort was a huge success at the box office. The $70 million total means ‘Us’ now has the largest weekend for an original horror movie ever.

Overseas, ‘Us’ launched with $16.7 million from 47 international territories for a global start of $86.95 million. That number is all the more impressive considering Universal and Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions spent a modest $20 million to make “Us,” not including marking and distribution fees, meaning the movie quadrupled its production cost in less than a week.

Absolutely incredible. For those who don’t remember, Peele’s first movie ‘Get Out‘ made $33 million during its opening weekend.

We don’t know why these “experts” continue to underestimate black filmmakers like Jordan Peele, but whatever, they’ll catch on one day.

If you haven’t watched ‘Us’ yet, you should definitely check it out. I’m not going to sit here and pretend everything makes sense in the movie, but it was incredibly entertaining. I enjoyed it more than Get Out.

Jordan Peele’s Upcoming Horror Flick ‘Us’ Set For $35 Million Opening, But We Think The Number Will Be Higher!

On March 22, Jordan Peele’s latest horror-thriller ‘Us‘ will hit theaters, and according to the early tracking numbers, it’s expected to make around $35 million during its opening weekend.

For those who don’t remember, his first horror-thriller ‘Get Out‘ made $255 million worldwide, but only made $33 million during its opening weekend.

‘Get Out’ continued to perform at the box office for weeks after its initial release because of great word of mouth. No one was really sure about Jordan Peele the horror director at the time, but when everyone who saw the film was like, “You have to see this!” people started to buy in.

But with ‘Us’ being his second feature, I don’t think people will need to be convinced this time. People are already excited, and the $35 million opening number seems low. I wouldn’t be surprised to see it hit $50 million, and I have numbers to back it up.

You see, ‘Us’ will be premiering at the SXSW Festival on March 8, which is very similar to how A Quiet Place premiered last year. It had a premiere on March 9 at SXSW, and then was released four weeks later. It made $50 million during its opening weekend.

As long as ‘Us’ performs well with critics and the audience at SXSW, I don’t see why it can’t reach $50 million as well.

The Second Trailer For Jordan Peele’s ‘Us’ Has Been Released, Check It Out Inside!

The Super Bowl was incredibly boring last night. Most of the commercials were lame, the game was meh, and the halftime show was a snoozefest.

But at least one good thing happened during the game. Jordan Peele dropped the second trailer for his upcoming horror flick Us.

“‘Us’ centers on Adelaide and Gabe Wilson (Lupita Nyong’o and Winston Duke) as they take their kids to Adelaide’s childhood home in Northern California for the summer. They unwind with their friends (Elisabeth Moss and Tim Heidecker), but Adelaide, still haunted by a past trauma, becomes paranoid that something is about to hurt her family.”

Peele wrote and directed this movie, just like he did with his directorial debut ‘Get Out‘ back in 2017. Get Out earned over $250 million worldwide at the box office and earned Peele a first-look deal with Universal Pictures.

Us is expected to hit theaters March 22, 2019. It was originally scheduled to be released March 15, but they pushed it back a week to create more buzz after it premieres at the South by Southwest Film Festival.
