Jack Black is well known for his comedic talents, and Ice Cube, well, he’s known for a little bit of everything. He has a lot of talents inside his box, and if you’ve been paying attention, you’ll know comedy is one of them.
Black and Cube are set to star in a huge comedy film titled Oh Hell No.
The movie, set to be released by Sony next summer, is being directed by Kitao Sakurai, the filmmaker behind Eric Andre’s Bad Trip film.
The plot follows Black’s Sherman, who falls in love with the mother of Ice Cube’s character Will, and his reaction to the budding romance is what gives the film its title.
Sounds pretty hilarious, right? Just picturing Cube’s mother bringing home Black to a family dinner, and then Cube giving him one of these faces…
The script was apparently written by several writers, including the writer behind Girls Trip and the writer behind Old School.
As mentioned above, it’s set to be released next summer on July 1, 2022.
Lionsgate’s movie adaptation of the popular video game franchise ‘Borderlands‘ is creating one of the more impressive casts in recent memory.
It was just announced that Jack Black will join the film. He will voice the role of Claptrap, a persistently sarcastic robot.
He joins a cast that already includes Kevin Hart, Cate Blanchett and Jamie Lee Curtis.
Eli Roth is directing this flick, and he expressed a lot of excitement about working with Black again.
I am so excited to reunite with Jack, this time in the recording booth. Claptrap is the funniest character in the game, and Jack is perfect to bring him to the big screen.
Apparently, both Roth and the studio pictured Black for this role, so the fact that he agreed to star is a huge win for them. It probably helped that Roth had previously worked with Black. Connections are always good in Hollywood.
‘Borderlands’ is based on the role-playing shooter game that launched in 2009. The game, which has spawned several sequels and stands as one of the most successful franchises, takes place on the planet of Pandora. Craig Mazin, who created the acclaimed HBO miniseries ‘Chernobyl,’ wrote the latest draft of the screenplay.
This has a good chance of being extremely successful. Lots of talented people involved.
The first ‘Goosebumps‘ film was released back in 2015. Jack Black starred in the film, which surprisingly received decent reviews from critics. It earned just over $150 million worldwide at the box office against a budget of $58 million. It also was a success after the box office, hitting #1 on the sales charts when it was released on home video.
Now they are dipping back inside R.L. Stine’s creepy catalog of stories to make a sequel titled, Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween.
What’s interesting is that Jack Black does not appear to be in this sequel, which is incredibly strange because he’s probably responsible for at least half of the box office return. People love him.
But what is EVEN MORE interesting is that the studio has neither confirmed nor denied him being involved in this sequel. The original release date for this film was September 21, 2018, but it was recently pushed back to October 12. Some people believe this is a sign that Black is secretly involved, because he has another film scheduled to come out on September 21.
Are you a fan of Cate Blanchett or Jack Black? Or what about the TV series Supernatural? If you answered yes to any of those questions, then there is a decent chance you’ll enjoy the upcoming film The House with a Clock in Its Walls.
The film stars Cate Blanchett and Jack Black, and they’re both pleased to welcome you to a peculiar house.
“A gothic tale about 10-year-old Lewis (Owen Vaccaro of Daddy’s Home 2) going to live with his uncle in a creepy, creaky old house. While there seems to be a lot going on in the preview footage between moving portraits, hostile dummies, and Blanchett’s magical umbrella, the story comes down to a world of witches and warlocks Lewis discovers when he inadvertently wakes the dead.”
Eric Kripke, the creator of Supernatural, wrote this film which is based on John Bellairs’ children’s classic of the same name. Eli Roth directed the project, which is set to hit theaters on September 21, 2018.
With Disney buying everything in the world, Netflix has been trying to build up their collection of original content. In a few years, they might not be able to offer the wide collection of films and TV they can now, so the original content will have to support them.
Their next original flick, The Polka King, just released its first trailer today. The Jack Black-starring comedy was purchased by Netflix in June for high seven figures.
The film is based on the documentary The Man Who Would Be Polka King from the directing team of John Mikulak and Joshua Von Brown.
So what is this movie about? We will let Deadline explain:
“The film follows Lewan (Black), who developed a Ponzi-like scheme, taking hordes of cash from senior citizens. Jenny Slate plays Lewan’s wife, who yearns to become a local beauty queen again, with Lewan bribing judges to ensure that she wins. Jason Schwartzman, Jacki Weaver, J.B. Smoove and Vanessa Bayer co-star.”
This looks like a great role for Black. He was great in the 2011 film Bernie, and this is kinda giving me Bernie vibes, so it’ll be interesting to see how it plays out.
It’s scheduled to be released on Netflix January 12, 2018. Check out the trailer below…
I have to be honest, I was not expecting much from the Jumanji reboot, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. It seemed like Hollywood’s latest attempt to take advantage of nostalgia. It also seemed like Hollywood’s latest attempt to randomly throw The Rock into a movie.
But you know what? I might have been wrong. The early reviews are coming in, and most of the critics have positive things to say. In fact, it’s difficult to find anything negative right now. Of course, these are just the early social media reactions from a handful of critics, so don’t get too excited yet.
However, it does look like the film has the potential to be a lot of fun…
I know. I’m shocked too. One thing I am happy to see is the amount of love Jack Black is getting. School of Rock is one of my favorite movies, so he will always hold a special place in my heart.
You can view the trailer for Jumanji below. It’s scheduled to hit theaters December 20, 2017.
Did the world need a Jumanji reboot? The answer is no, especially since Robin Williams is no longer alive to star in it. But Hollywood wants money, and they’re probably going to get a lot of it with Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle.
The reboot stars Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Dwayne Johnson and Karen Gillan. One of the first things you’ll notice in the trailer is that Jack Black sounds like a teen girl, and that’s because he is a teen girl…kinda.
The adults (Johnson, Hart, Black, Gillan) are apparently portraying the avatars of high school kids playing the old, haunted video game known as Jumanji.
Which means you’ll hear Black say things like, “I can’t even with this place,” and “that was, like, so intense,” throughout the movie, so that shouldn’t be annoying at all.
The film is scheduled to be released December 20, 2017. It’s going to make a lot of money. I will cry. The world will continue to have creativity sucked out of it.
SEQUEL ALERT! SEQUEL ALERT! HOLLYWOOD IS MAKING ANOTHER SEQUEL!
Did you think we would make it through an entire week without hearing news about another sequel? You’re so cute. Sony Pictures has revealed that a sequel to the 2015 Goosebumpsfilm will hit theaters on January 26th, 2018.
The studio “took a chance” when they decided to adapt the work from legendary writer R.L. Stine. Admittedly, it could have been a disaster for everyone involved, but the movie ended up doing pretty well.
It grossed a little over $150 million on a $58 million budget, and it received mostly positive reviews from critics, which was a surprise to almost everyone.
And with all that money still floating out there, the studio knew it would have to bring the franchise back at least one more time. The director of the original film, Rob Letterman, will return for this sequel, and the studio is already in talks with Jack Black. They do not want to do this film without him. I mean, they will, cause all bad ideas must be produced, but they won’t be happy about it.
It’s a little strange that the scheduled release date is in January. It doesn’t make a lot of sense. That’s where studios put movies they have no faith in. Why bother making a sequel if they don’t think it will be a success? Why set it up for failure?
The original film had a prime October release date. I would not be surprised if this January release date gets pushed back.
This new Jumanji movie (which is not a reboot, according to The Rock) is happening, and there is nothing we can do to stop it. Honestly. It’s too late now. They have officially started filming the disaster in Hawaii.
Kevin Hart jumped on his Instagram account earlier this week to share one of the first photos from the set. Dwayne Johnson, Karen Gillan and Jack Black join him in the photo.
“Day 1 of shooting ‘Jumanji’ is officially in the can. We had a amazing first day. The chemistry & energy of our cast & crew was beyond amazing!!!! This movie is going to be dope as hell….Can’t wait to get back to work tomorrow @therock @karengillanofficial & jack black!!! #Jumanji”
We would love to believe him when he promises this movie is going to be “dope” as hell, but he also said similar things while filming Get Hard and The Wedding Ringer.
And as Mr. Bush would say…
If you’re interested, Johnson revealed their character names. He will be playing Dr. Smolder Bravestone, Hart will be playing Moose Finbar, Gillan is playing Ruby Roundhouse and Black is playing Professor Shelly Oberon.
Hopefully at least two of these characters are just ordinary people who get caught up in the madness of the Jumanji world, because that’s one of the reasons the original film worked so well. It’s likely that the cast is split. If I had to guess, I’d say the Rock’s character and Gillan’s character are actual characters from the Jumanji game itself, which would explain how the film plans to reference Robin Williams’ character from the first movie.
We’ll keep you posted as more information is released. Hart and Johnson are big on social media, so we should expect to see more photos from the set soon. The film is scheduled to be released July 28, 2017.
