‘Community’ Might Not Be Coming Back For 7th Season, But The Chances Of A Movie Are Going Up!

Earlier this week, it looked like the beloved comedy series Community finally died. As most of you know, the show has been on and off life support for years. Fans have never felt safe during the show’s six-year run, but they continue to support Dan Harmon, Joel McHale and the rest of the team.

Sadly, the money just isn’t there for a seventh season, plus, several stars from the show have signed on for new projects. At this point, it would be almost impossible to film another season, and Joel McHale seemed to confirm this during a recent interview in response to the, “Is it getting another season?” question.

“No. They wanted to. But all of our contracts were up after six years. All the actors on the show, almost without exception — their stock has risen significantly and it’s out of the pay rate that is affordable to make the show. So you’re not going to be able to get Alison Brie or Gillian Jacobs at a normal television salary anymore. There is just not enough money to be able to pay for the show.”

This has obviously disappointed fans around the world, but don’t give up on Community just yet. Yahoo released a statement saying, “We’ve seen tremendous value in our partnership with Sony and are continuing to discuss future opportunities for Community.”

Interesting, right? Opportunities…hmm. Could a Community movie be coming soon? It’s certainly possible. We know the stars of the show want a movie, “I would love to do a movie. Doing a movie would be amazing.” Ken Jeong said at TCA.

We’ll see what happens. A few insiders are confident this will happen, and if it does happen, it will most likely be set up for digital distribution.
