Well, well, well…it looks another sequel will be coming your way soon. Comedian/actor Chris Tucker was on ESPN’s podcast The Plug the other day, and he was all jazzed about filming Rush Hour 4.
He said, “It’s happening. This is gonna be the rush of all rushes. Jackie is ready and we want to do this so that people don’t ever forget it,” which scares me a bit because he’s starting to sound like Vin Diesel, but we will let it slide this time.
For what it’s worth, we know Jackie Chan is ready to return as well. Last year, he revealed to Power 106 that he had been turning down potential scripts for the sequel for years, but then last year the right one landed on his desk.
“For the last seven years, we’ve been turning down the script, turning down the script. Yesterday, we just agreed… the script, probably end of this month. They’re on the second draft. Next year, probably start. I hope. If Chris Tucker agrees.”
The first Rush Hour film was released back in 1998, the second film in 2001 and the third in 2007. In total, the first three films earned over $850 million worldwide at the box office.
If this fourth film gets made, it could push the franchise over the $1 billion mark.
