Watch The First Trailer For ‘Extraction’ Starring Chris Hemsworth

A week or two ago, we shared a poster for the upcoming action-thriller ‘Extraction‘ starring Chris Hemsworth.

Now, we’re happy to share the first trailer. Hemsworth stars in the film as Tyler Rake, “a weathered mercenary whose combat skills are solicited when he’s sent to Bangladesh to rescue an international crime lord’s kidnapped son.”

The film was directed by Sam Hargrave, the stunt coordinator for Avengers: Endgame and Atomic Blonde.

David Harbour and Golshifteh Farahani co-star in the movie, which is set to be released on Netflix April 24, 2020.

Should be a good way to waste an hour or two of this quarantine life.

Check out the trailer below…

Chris Hemsworth Reveals He Was THIS Close To Pulling Out Of ‘Ghostbusters’

When the all-female ‘Ghostbusters‘ film was released back in 2016, it sparked a lot of controversy, mainly from angry dudes online who thought women couldn’t possibly kill ghosts.

Chris Hemsworth played a clueless receptionist in the movie, and most everyone loved seeing his comedic side. Even the angry trolls liked his performance.

But in a new interview with Variety, Hemsworth revealed he almost pulled out of the movie at the last minute.

The night before I was shooting, I almost pulled out. Three or four weeks prior, Paul said to me, ‘I’m going to write up the character. Don’t worry.’ And then I got the script and nothing had changed.

Hemsworth’s agent set up a last minute meeting with director Paul Feig, and he assured the actor that there would be “a lot to do” via improvisation.

“I was really scared walking onto that set. I had no real plan, so I was just feeding off of them, and I just felt ridiculous. So I used that,” Hemsworth told the magazine.

By the way, he would have loved to film a sequel, and he’s still mad that the “online fanboys” slammed the movie online without giving it a chance…

That whole period I was like, ‘What ownership do you guys have over those characters? Oh, you watched the film, therefore you should have a say over where it goes?’ I thought it was very unfortunate and kind of disappointing.

Another Day, Another Biopic! Chris Hemsworth Set To Play Hulk Hogan

Geez. Hollywood is going biopic crazy right now, which is a shame because most biopics are boring as hell. We told you about the Motley Crue biopic, we told you about the Elton John biopic, and now we’re telling you about the upcoming Hulk Hogan biopic.

According to multiple reports, Chris Hemsworth is set to play Hulk Hogan in an upcoming biopic about the wrestler.

“Deals for the Hogan project are in the midst of closing with Netflix. Producing will be Michael Sugar, the Academy Award winner behind Spotlight, who will produce via his Netflix-based Sugar23, and Phillips and Bradley Cooper, who will produce via their banner Joint Effort. Also producing will be Hemsworth and Eric Bischoff.

One of the biggest names in wrestling of all time, Hogan was a fixture on TV sets in 1980s America as part of the World Wrestling Federation who subsequently parlayed his championships-winning leg drops and star power into forays into movies and television, endorsements and video games.”

There was also the infamous sex tape scandal, which ultimately ended the Gawker website and brand. But according to insiders, this biopic will not focus on Hogan’s later years. Instead, it’ll focus on his rise to fame when he was younger, which honestly sounds far less interesting to me. GIVE ME THE JUICY SEX TAPE DRAMA!

No word on a release date, but we will keep you posted.

The First Trailer For ‘Men in Black: International’ Starring Tessa Thompson And Chris Hemsworth

Well, the ‘Men in Black‘ franchise is officially back, but it’s missing Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones. This new ‘Men in Black: International‘ is reportedly a sequel, spin-off and remake all rolled into one.

Tessa Thompson and Chris Hemsworth star in the movie as Agents H and M. Liam Neeson plays the head of the London branch of the alien investigation agency Men in Black. Emma Thompson will be reprising her role as O, the head of the American branch.

“The film has Agent H and new recruit Agent M getting caught up in a case with global implications as a murder mystery turns into something much, much bigger than they anticipated. The story reportedly has them traveling around the world in order to solve the case.”

In addition to the stars listed above, Men in Black: International will also feature Rebecca Ferguson and Kumail Nanjiani.

This kinda feels like a ‘Jumanji‘ situation. It’s basically a completely different film, so you can’t really treat it as a sequel. They’re trying to avoid direct comparisons, and that’s a smart move.

Will it have the same success? It’s impossible to know, but this trailer does not make me hopeful.

Check it out below. The film will be released June 14, 2019.

Tessa Thompson Is Reportedly Joining Chris Hemsworth In The Upcoming ‘Men In Black’ Spinoff

The more we learn about this ‘Men in Black‘ spinoff, the more we like it. At first, we were a little disappointed that neither Will Smith nor Tommy Lee Jones would return, but we’re starting to get over that disappointment.

According to multiple reports, Tessa Thompson is joining her Thor: Ragnarok co-star Chris Hemsworth in Sony’s upcoming Men in Black reboot.

This is pretty huge news because they were both great in Thor and Hemsworth was one of the best parts of the recent Ghostbusters reboot, so we know his comedy game is strong.

Fate of the Furious‘ director F. Gary Gray is set to direct this reboot, which will feature brand new characters, similar to how Jurassic World revived the Jurassic Park franchise. You still keep the world that has already been created, but you also start over with new characters, so people aren’t directly comparing the two.

Currently, the studio has a release date of June 14, 2019, but that will likely change. Big movies like this often get delayed.

“Details are being kept hidden under a New York City ventilation tower, but sources say the new project is more of an ensemble piece than a two-hander and will be more global in scope.”

We will keep you posted.

Movie Review: The Huntsman: Winter’s War – Bad Pacing, Poor Acting and a Confusing Plot

The Huntsman Winter's War [2016] IMAGE 8 - 02MAY2016

If I saw the first Huntsman movie, I couldn’t tell you. I will tell you after seeing its sequel, I doubt I ever will. One dimensional storytelling and two of the worst accents I’ve ever heard turned this into a miss for me.

This story follows Snow White and The Huntsman, though apparently Kristen Stewart was in the last one and doesn’t appear here. This sequel kind of tries to pull in some Frozen by sticking in an evil Snow Queen played by Emily Blunt. Chris Helmsworth reprises his role as The Huntsman and this time is dealing with her, and her desire to revive her sister.

Yeah, they actually tried to shamelessly cash in on two movies, by slipping a little Frozen in, though a decidedly more adult version. It’s really attacking that mass consumer index from all angles.

hero_The-Huntsman-Winters-War-2016-2 - 02MAY2016

I think an accountant may have written this movie. At least I would think that, if it wasn’t so damn pretty. Because it is a good looking movie. Every single inch of it, from the cast, to the CGI, fight scenes, backdrop and lighting is gorgeous to look at.

Then, Chris Helmsworth spits out line after line with a Scottish accent only a cartoon character would sport. Its painful to listen to. The first time he did it, I laughed in surprise. The accent was so distracting that I decided to look into the first movie, and watched a few clips.

Why was he Scottish in this movie, but not that one? Can you do that? Suddenly just become Scottish? Is that like The Huntsman’s superpower? The sudden, inexplicable ability to sound like the Scottish version of Yosemite Sam?

Huntsman

Also, I was so confused as to what was going on. I mean, seriously lost through the vast majority of it. I think this is supposed to be one of those sequel/prequels, where they slip in the backstory through the story, but the pacing was off and most of the time, I was too busy laughing at that bad accent to care.

If this was on mute, I might think it was a different movie. They invested a lot into effect, but feels like they threw together a script over a weekend and decided to let Helmsworth try out his new accent just because. The attempt to squeeze every little coin out of this franchise is sad.

It got some disappointing results at the box office. It hit number 2 in the box-office at its debut and has earned about $19 million, but I’m guessing that’s not nearly what the first one made. I think they tried to get too much out of the movie and as a result, lost the magic that likely drew viewers to the original. But I have to admit, seeing this gives me no desire at all to see the original. Bad pacing, poor acting and a confusing plot made this too much trouble to watch, despite how pretty it was to look at.

Movie Review: Vacation (2015) – The Laugh Out Loud Moments Are Gone

_H9C6827.DNG

The Griswold family was a staple of my childhood. Watching Chevy Chase as everyman Clark Griswold, as he took his family on European vacations, family vacations, Christmas vacations and even a Vegas vacation was one of my first exposures to comedy. So I was thrilled when they decided to revamp the series, focusing on Clark’s now adult son Rusty. I was so excited. I was excited like that time I got flowers at work on Valentine’s Day.

And much like that time, it ended in disappointment. Just like those flowers, this movie was not for me.

Rusty Griswold (Ed Helms) is a married father of two, who is planning a family trip from Chicago to California’s Walley World for Memorial Day Weekend. His goal is to fix the first vacation from the original family vacation movie, where they wound up at Wally World only to learn it was closed. They break the fourth wall early on for skeptical audiences.

“You want to redo your vacation?” asks wife Debbie (Christina Applegate). “My vacation had a boy and a girl,” Rusty retorts. “This one has two boys. And I’m sure there will be plenty of other differences.” That was cute, but then they just wouldn’t stop! “I’ve never heard of the original vacation,” says Rusty’s son James (Skyler Gisondo). “It doesn’t matter,” insists Dad. “The new vacation will stand on its own.”

We get it, ok. Let it go. Breaking the fourth wall requires surgeon like precision, not bashing us over the head with it over and over again.

landscape-1431030975-screen-shot-2015-05-07-at-43550-pm - 10AUG2015

Of course, the road trip is filled with peril and calamity. That’s where the similarities end, because this time, the laugh out loud moments are gone, replaced with fist fights and curse words. When someone isn’t swearing or fighting, it’s just dead air, like the movie was directed by a poorly maintained radio station.

Rusty Griswold never had a good vacation, not even once. The filmmakers could have seized on this as the overwhelming theme of the movie. Instead, they insisted on referencing the old movie to bring back shades of nostalgia to an audience who knew and loved the originals.

The problem is this movie is nothing like the originals. Not even the poorly done Vegas vacation, which was a shameless cash grab. That’s right, this movie doesn’t even compare to the worst of the franchise. I felt like they wrote a basic outline of the script, and then told the actors to improv. The problem was that Ed Helms is the only one who knows anything about improv and even he didn’t bring it in this movie.

If you want to revel in nostalgia, I highly recommend watching the other family vacation movies. Those actually provided the ability to laugh, even at incredibly inappropriate times (like the whole dog getting leashed to the rear bumper and forgotten). Chevy Chase made Clark Griswold both likeable and annoying in one fell swoop. I thought Ed Helms would be able to do the same for Rusty, but honestly, it was an outright fail.

Chris Hemsworth Has Joined The All-Female ‘Ghostbusters’ Reboot!

Director Paul Feig (The Heat, Bridesmaids) is committed to this expansive gender-swapping of Ghostbusters. We already know the all-male group from the original will be replaced with an all-female group in this new reboot.

And now we know Feig will continue the trend by replacing the original female receptionist played by Annie Potts with the manliest dude out there, Chris Hemsworth.

Feig announced the news on his Twitter account…

chrss

One thing is clear, this movie is going to be filled with some of the biggest names in Hollywood. You have Hemsworth, Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones. It’s obvious Chris doesn’t have as much experience in the comedy world as his costars; however, Feig has made it clear that this reboot won’t be all comedy.

He mentioned last year how he wanted to make people laugh, but also make sure they left the theater feeling a little bit scared…

Both [screenwriter Katie Dippold] and I are obsessed with how do we make comedy really scary? The sequel to ‘The Heat’ was going to be pretty scary and funny. Almost like in a ‘Silence of the Lambs’ type thing but funny. I think funny people in peril and in danger is one of the best forms of comedy, and I really like things to play very real while funny things are happening.

It’s definitely going to be interesting. Feig’s Ghostbusters will begin filming this summer and is currently scheduled to be released July 22, 2016.

Movie Review: Avengers: Age of Ultron – Easy, Stupid Fun With A Ridiculously High Budget

The summer movie season rolled out with the first big blockbuster of the season. The much anticipated Avengers: Age of Ultron is finally out. While not the best in the series, it certainly looks like the most expensive.

The premise is this. Tony Stark/Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) has created a villain. Ultron was initially designed to protect the planet earth. Of course, because it’s artificial intelligence, it immediately becomes an evil robot bent on world domination.

When will people learn?

The avengers, Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Steve Rogers/Captain America (Chris Evans), Clint Barton/Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Bruce Banner/Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) all get together to save the day. As if there weren’t enough main characters to remember, be prepared for a couple more including Pietro Maximoff/Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and sister Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen).

The humor that made the first few movies good is still there and fans of the comic books series will appreciate some of the tongue in cheek comments, like why Thor is the only one who can lift his hammer. There’s a few side stories going on where the writers try to inject some humanity into their characters, by showing the burgeoning love affair between the Black Widow and Hulk, as well as Hawkeye’s rural life.

Despite that, this movie is nothing you don’t expect. It’s easy, stupid fun with a ridiculously high budget. Everything unfolds as you’d expect and it’s pretty much a paint by numbers big budget action movie. They didn’t climb too far out of the box on this one.

It’s absolutely CGI heavy, with extensive battle scenes filmed from impossible angles, with people doing impossible things. While visually stunning, it feels a bit like the battle scenes were padded out for the purposes of fleshing out a simplistic script.

Everyone reprises their characters with the same enthusiasm as they had in the first few movies. That’s a feat in and of itself, as they’ve all been at this for a while. Iron Man is still charming, the Black Widow is still creepy, and everyone still wonders why Hawkeye is even there.

This is Joss Whedon’s last direction go around with this franchise, and I will say he went out on a high note. The movie is well done, fun to watch and easy to follow. It’s exactly what a big budget blockbuster should be, and Whedon has managed to keep it going for awhile now. Here’s hoping when someone else takes the helm, it will be just as good.

There’s already a new one planned, Avengers: Infinity War Part 1, that is expected out in 2018. This is a franchise that has still managed to not lose its steam and will probably be around for a long time to come…as long as they keep making money.

While a bit heavy on battle scenes and CGI, it’s still a commendable effort and was the perfect start for the summer movie season. If you’re looking for fun that won’t make you think so much, this one is worth the watch. .

WHAT IS A MARATHON TRAILER?

I can’t believe you don’t know what a marathon trailer is!  And you call yourself a movie fan?  Of course you don’t know what it is because I made the term up.  It sounded much better than a “mashed up, long ass” trailer, but that’s exactly what it is.

A Youtuber by the name of JohnnyB2K (cool name), has decided to take all three Age of Ultron trailers and link them together in chronological order.  I think he did a pretty good job despite all of the petty Youtube comments on the sound quality.  To those people pressing thumbs down I say, “Where’s your trailer”.

JohnnyB2K tried to put everything in chronological order to the best of his ability.  The order dictates a lot of the story so it will be interesting to see how close he got.  People are complaining about spoilers from this trailer.  Maybe they missed the part where he just used the EXISTING TRAILERS. People, it’s not that serious.

Maybe I will see some of you on April 29th.  I will be the guy wearing one of those hats that holds the drinks on each side and an adult diaper on.  Can’t afford bathroom breaks.  Enjoy the trailer!
