Watch Tilda Swinton In The First Trailer For Drama-Thriller ‘Memoria’

The acclaimed Thai director Apichatpong Weerasethakul is back with his first feature film since his 2015 movie, Cemetery of Splendor, which received rave reviews from critics.

His latest feature, Memoria, will be his English-language debut. The movie stars Tilda Swinton as a Scottish woman who, after hearing an odd banging sound at daybreak, beings to experience a strange sensory syndrome while on a journey through the jungles of Colombia.

And you shouldn’t be worried about any spoilers in the trailer below. It doesn’t offer much in the way of details, beyond what the brief synopsis states.

The movie is set to premiere at Cannes on July 15, so it’s possible we’ll have some reviews of this film by the end of the week.

Weerasethakul says he wrote this script with Swinton in mind…

I wrote this movie with her in mind knowing that she is an actress who needs no explanation. In fact, it was she who showed me this character. The experience was very significant and I really appreciate that.

It sounds very promising. I mean, Swinton is an Academy-Award winner, so she’s got more than enough talent to carry a film.

Swinton is in high demand right now. She has five films debuting at Cannes this year, including Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch.
