Watch Adam Sandler In The First Trailer For Netflix Basketball Flick ‘Hustle’

We all know Adam Sandler loves basketball, and now he’s finally getting to star in a movie all about the sport.

Netflix just released the first teaser trailer for ‘Hustle‘ an upcoming basketball flick starring Sandler as a washed up basketball scout.

He discovers a star athlete (Juancho Hernangómez) with a rocky past on the street ball courts of Spain. Back in the U.S., the pair struggle against all odds to prove that they have what it takes to make it in the NBA.

The movie was actually produced by LeBron James, so that’s pretty cool. And Sandler’s co-star, Juancho, was an NBA player himself, so there should be no shortage of insider tips.

In addition to Sandler and Juancho, Hustle will co-star Queen Latifah, Ben Foster, Kenny Smith and Robert Duvall.

Jeremiah Zagar directed the flick based on a script by Taylor Materne and Will Fetters. It’s set to hit the streaming giant on June 10. It’s rare for Netflix to release a trailer so far in advance. Typically, they drop trailers two or three weeks before they release a film.

But I suppose with Sandler films, they want more time to promote. Check out the trailer below…

Adam Sandler And Jennifer Aniston Nearing Deal To Return For ‘Murder Mystery 2’

Netflix and Adam Sandler had a pretty big hit on their hands with the comedy film ‘Murder Mystery

Even though critics were mixed on it, the general audience loved it. Back in June of 2019, Netflix reported that 30.9 million households watched the film in the first 72 hours, the biggest opening weekend for a film in the company’s history at the time.

And with that success comes sequels. It was reported this week that Jeremey Garelick has signed on to direct the sequel. The script for this sequel was once again written by James Vanderbilt, but it’s being reported that Garelick will do a polish on it.

A deal has not been closed to bring back Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston for this sequel, although sources say it’s close and everyone expects they will return.

Sandler played a cop and Aniston his wife in the original film, in which they went on vacation and got framed for the murder of an elderly rich guy.

We don’t know much about this sequel, but according to the reports, it’s set to film in Paris and the Caribbean, which will be hard for Sandler to pass up. We all know how much he loves a good destination shoot.

Netflix is fast-tracking this sequel, so it’s possible we could see a release date as early as summer 2022.

Paul Dano And Kunal Nayyar Join Adam Sandler’s Star-Studded Cast For ‘Spaceman’

The upcoming Netflix/Adam Sandler production, Spaceman, is turning into quite the production.

It was already announced that Carey Mulligan would be joining Sandler in the film, but now we are hearing that Paul Dano and ‘Big Bang Theory‘ actor Kunal Nayyar will star as well.

In the movie, Sandler is an astronaut sent to the edge of the galaxy to collect mysterious ancient dust as he finds his earthly life falling to pieces. He turns to the only voice who can help him try to put it back together. It just so happens to belong to a creature from the beginning of time lurking in the shadows of his ship.

Johan Renck is set to direct the movie, which is based on the Jaroslav Kalfar novel Spaceman of Bohemia.

Oddly enough, Channing Tatum is one of the producers on the film. No word on how much involvement he actually has, or if he’ll make some sort of cameo.

This should be an interesting project to follow. I’ll be interested to see if it’s more of a straight comedy, or if we’ll be getting the delicious treat that is Serious Sandler.

Queen Latifah And Robert Duvall Joining Adam Sandler’s Basketball Film ‘Hustle’

Adam Sandler is surrounding himself with a talented group of actors in the upcoming sports film, Hustle.

The basketball flick stars Sandler as a down on his luck basketball scout who discovers “a once-in-a-lifetime player with a rocky past abroad and takes it upon himself to bring the phenom to the States without his team’s approval.”

In addition to Sandler, we’re now hearing this film will co-star Queen Latifah, Robert Duvall, Ben Foster and NBA player Juancho Hernangomez.

Oscar nominee Will Fetters (A Star Is Born) co-wrote the script with Taylor Materne, so we’re assuming this film will have dramatic beats. Not your typical Happy Madison production.

No word on a potential release date, but we’re sure Sandler is itching to film. Sandler is a huge basketball fan, so any excuse to immerse himself in the game is a good one.

This film is part of Sandler’s overall deal with Netflix, so it will be released on the streaming giant once completed.

Adam Sandler Reveals He Thought He’d Ruin ‘Punch-Drunk Love’

Adam Sandler was spectacular in Paul Thomas Anderson’s 2002 masterpiece Punch-Drunk Love. It was one of the first times people saw Sandler as a serious actor. He was nominated for Best Actor at the Golden Globes for his performance.

But during a new interview on the SmartLess podcast, Sandler revealed he was completely terrified before shooting the film. He even tried to convince Anderson to cast someone else.

Anderson and Sandler first connected thanks to Tom Cruise, who met Sandler at an SNL party.

Cruise had a Yankee cap dipped down low, and he looked up, and I was, like, in love with him. Tom called me up, and he says, ‘I’m doing a movie with my friend Paul, and he’s interested in doing a movie with you. Can I put him on the phone?’

Sandler didn’t know anything about this Paul character, but he was nice enough to listen to his pitch and agreed to star in the film.

But then he went to watch Anderson’s ‘Magnolia’ film and thought, “Oh, sh*t.”

But then, honest to God, it was like 11 in the morning, and I had nothing to do, and Magnolia just came out, and I said, ‘I think this is that kid’s movie. I’m going to go see that.’ It was sold out, and I was in the front row, and I was looking up at it, and I was f**king terrified, and I was going, ‘Oh this guy is fucking better than me. I don’t want to be in this. I’m going to ruin his movie! Holy shit!’

He called Anderson after watching the movie and begged him to choose someone else for the movie.

Anderson wasn’t hearing it though. He drove over to Sandler’s house and talked him through the script, “I always said I could do this, but this was too much. But he talked me through it, and he made me comfortable,” Sandler explained.

And there you have it. That’s very much a Sandler story. Good guy who sells himself short.

Adam Sandler Signs New Deal With Netflix, Will Produce Four More Films

People questioned Netflix when they made a huge deal with Adam Sandler in 2014, but it proved to be successful for both parties.

It was so successful that Netflix made another four-movie deal with him in 2017.

Now in 2020, they’re extending the contract once again. Sandler and his Happy Madison Productions will produce (at least) four more films for Netflix.

The streamer announced the deal Friday, noting that Sandler’s ‘Murder Mystery’ was the most popular title on Netflix in the U.S. last year. ‘Murder Mystery,’ which co-starred Jennifer Aniston, was Sandler’s sixth Netflix movie.

Netflix claims members have spent two billion hours watching Sandler’s films since 2015. I have no idea how they came up with that number, but it does sound pretty impressive.

Sandler’s next film being released on Netflix will be Hubie Halloween, which also stars Kevin James, Shaquille O’Neal, Maya Rudolph and Ray Liotta, ’cause why not?

No word on an exact release date, but it’ll hit the streaming service sometime this year.

Adam Sandler Shows Off Dramatic Acting Skills In Trailer For ‘Uncut Gems’

It’s always a real treat when Adam Sandler steps away from the silliness of ‘Happy Madison Productions’ and takes on a serious role.

We’ve seen glimpses of brilliance from the actor in movies like Punch Drunk Love and The Meyerowitz Stories, and now it looks like we’ll see another great performance in the upcoming film, Uncut Gems.

The crime thriller was written/directed by the Safdie brothers, who amazed everyone with their beautifully twisted film, Good Time, back in 2017.

In this new film, Sandler stars as an obsessive New York jeweler turned gambling hustler. Critics who saw this movie at the Toronto International Film Festival have had nothing but positive things to say about it.

It currently sits at a 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It’ll hit theaters December 13, 2019.

Check out the trailer below…

Check Out First Photo From A24’s ‘Uncut Gems’ Featuring Adam Sandler

We all know Adam Sandler is a talented actor. Sure, for the past five years or so, he’s been getting slammed by critics for his Netflix original comedy films. But we all know that’s not Sandler at his best. That’s Sandler wanting to make some money and have a good time filming family comedies with his friends.

Sandler can turn on his magic anytime he needs it, as we saw in Punch-Drunk Love, The Meyerowitz Stories, and his most recent stand-up special, 100% Fresh.

And according to the early reports, we can go ahead and add his next film, Uncut Gems, to the list. The movie, which was directed by the insanely talented Safdie brothers, is described as a crime thriller.

‘Uncut Gems’ is a crime thriller about Howard Ratner (Sandler), a charismatic New York City jeweler always on the lookout for the next big score. When he makes a series of high-stakes bets that could lead to the windfall of a lifetime, Howard must perform a precarious high-wire act, balancing business, family, and encroaching adversaries on all sides, in his relentless pursuit of the ultimate win.

The movie is set to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, and the director of the festival claims Sandler gives his best performance since Punch-Drunk Love in the movie.

“It moves at a breakneck pace. It’s cranked up to 11 the whole time, it’s exhilarating to watch,” so yeah, it’s safe to say we’re pretty damn excited.

A24 will release this movie inside theaters in December, 2019, right in time for awards season.

First Photos From Jennifer Aniston And Adam Sandler’s Comedy Film ‘Murder Mystery’

The last time Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston worked together was back in 2011 in the romantic comedy Just Go With It. The film was (of course) slammed by critics, but it did perform well at the box office, making over $200 million against an $85 million budget.

Now Aniston and Sandler are teaming up again for the Netflix comedy, Murder Mystery.

They play a married couple in the movie. Sandler’s character is a New York City police officer who takes his wife on a long-promised trip to Europe.

On a flight there, they get invited to an intimate family gathering on the superyacht of an elderly billionaire who is later murdered. The unsuspecting couple finds themselves on the run after they get framed for his murder.

Murder Mystery also stars Luke Evans, Gemma Arterton and Terence Stamp.

It’ll premiere on Netflix on June 12, 2019.

Adam Sandler And Lakeith Stanfield Set To Star In A24 Crime-Dramedy ‘Uncut Gems’

Every few years, Adam Sandler will surprise us by starring in a movie that’s actually really good, the last one being The Meyerowitz Stories back in 2017.

And now it looks like he’s ready to surprise us once again with the upcoming crime-dramedy Uncut Gems. The movie hasn’t even started filming yet, so why are we so sure it’s going to be a hit? Well, because A24 is attached and the Safdie Brothers wrote the script. They are the filmmakers behind the incredible 2017 film, Good Time.

So yeah, it looks like this movie has solid bones. In addition to Sandler, we are hearingAtlanta‘ star Lakeith Stanfield will co-star.

“Set in the Diamond district of New York City, Sandler will star as a jewelry store owner with a gambling addiction who is juggling two relationships and escalating debts. Stanfield will play a key ally to a famous client of the jewelry store. As we previously revealed, Eric Bogosian and Judd Hirsch are also set to star in the film, which is likely to shoot later this year. Casting is ongoing.”

I’m sold! I’ll be following the updates closely. Check back soon!
