The final film in the ‘Maze Runner‘ trilogy has released its first trailer. The young adult action-adventure franchise released its first film back in 2014, and it grossed close to $350 million on a budget of just $34 million. The sequel, which opened one year later, made $312 million against a $60 million budget.
Production on the film was shut down and delayed after the star of the movie, Dylan O’Brien, was severely injured in an accident on set last year. Before the accident, the movie was scheduled to open February 17, 2017. It was pushed back almost a full year. The new release date is scheduled for Jan. 26, 2018.
The Hollywood Reporter explains what this final installment is about:
“To save their friends, they must break into the legendary Last City, a WCKD-controlled labyrinth that may turn out to be the deadliest maze of all. Anyone who makes it out alive will get answers to the questions the Gladers have been asking since they first arrived in the maze.”
