Marshall Cook Set To Direct Will Sasso In Upcoming Football Comedy ‘Champions Of The Universe’

It’s difficult to not love Will Sasso. The Canadian actor/comedian is perhaps best known for his work on Mad TV, and for starring as Curly in the 2012 film reboot of The Three Stooges.

Most recently, he’s worked on the comedy series Loudermilk, which was co-created by Peter Farrelly.

And it looks like Sasso and Farrelly will be teaming up again for the upcoming sports comedy, Champions of the Universe. The 46-year-old actor is set to star in the movie, which is being produced by Farrelly and directed by Marshall Cook.

Pic tells the story of a former college football star (Sasso) who misguides his elite athlete son while diluting himself in a small town flag football rivalry with his son’s stepfather.

Cook and Sasso reportedly wrote the script together. Financing for the project is being brought to you by Anamorphic Media Inc.

Cook had this to say about the project finally coming together…

Will and I put a lot of love into this script and there’s no one better for the lead role than him. Sara is incredibly savvy and I’m beyond grateful she was able to put this together. Having Peter Farrelly join the team is literally a dream come true.

It certainly sounds like it has potential, especially with Sasso in the lead role. We’ll be keeping our eyes out for more news regarding this film in the future.
