Dakota Johnson Has Found Her Next Project With Upcoming Jane Austen Adaptation

Dakota Johnson, perhaps best known for Fifty Shades of Grey, has found her next project.

She’s set to star in the upcoming retelling of the Jane Austen novel, Persuasion. Carrie Cracknell, known for her work on Broadway, is set to make her feature directorial debut with this film.

Described as a ‘modern, witty approach’ to a beloved story, ‘Persuasion’ tells the story of Anne Elliot, a headstrong woman living with her snobby family on the brink of bankruptcy. Unmarried and 27-years-old, Anne reconnects with a man she was once persuaded to reject and faces a second chance at love.

Persuasion was the last novel written by Austen, the author behind classics like Pride and Prejudice and Emma.

The novel has been adapted before, once back in 2007 for a TV movie starring Sally Hawkins. The film was well received by critics.

Production on this latest adaptation is set to begin in May. No word on a potential release date, but we’re thinking sometime in 2022.

We’ll keep you posted.
