When it was announced that Jordan Peele (Key and Peele) would be teaming up with Blumhouse Productions to create a horror film, everyone was a little confused…but also a little excited. After the news was revealed, Peele explained that this is something he has wanted to do for years.
In a statement released last year, Peele talked about his passion for horror films:
“People know me for my work in comedy, but now I’ll get to focus on my passion for writing and directing horror films. Like comedy, horror has an ability to provoke thought and further the conversation on real social issues in a very powerful way. Get Out takes on the task of exploring race in America, something that hasn’t really been done within the genre since Night Of The Living Dead 47 years ago. It’s long overdue.”
Sounds interesting, right? Well now we have the first trailer for Get Out, and we have to admit, it does look pretty terrifying. Most people thought, since Peele wrote and directed the film, that it would be filled with more laughs than scares.
But this a straight horror movie. It’s not a parody. Daniel Kaluuya (Skins, Sicario) and Allison Williams (Girls) star in the movie. They play Chris and Rose, a happy couple who has plans to visit Rose’s parents on their family estate. Before the trip, Chris is worried about how her parents will handle the issue of his race, but he soon discovers there is something really f–king strange going on at the family estate.
We suggest only watching the first minute of the trailer below. As with most horror trailers, it shows too much after that.
One minute is all you need.
