Woo! ‘Parasite’ Makes History By Winning Outstanding Cast In A Motion Picture At SAG Awards

If you were wondering, ‘Parasite‘ was my favorite film of 2019. In fact, it might be favorite film in the last five years. If you haven’t watched it, I implore you to change that. Yes, it has subtitles, but don’t be one of those people who claim they can’t watch and read at the same time. You can, and you will.

The comedy/thriller/drama is perhaps one of the more popular/successful foreign-language films in recent memory.

And on Sunday night, it made history at the 26th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards by becoming the first foreign-language film to win the award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Motion Picture. It’s the biggest award of the night.

One of the stars of the film, Song Kang-ho, spoke to the crowd with help from a translator…

Although the title is┬áParasite, I think the story is about co-existence and how we can all live together. But to be honored with the best ensemble award, it occurs to me that maybe we haven’t created such a bad movie. I’m so honored to receive this award in front of such amazing actors that I admire. I will never forget this beautiful night. Thank you so much.

Now it’s off to the Oscars, where the film is nominated for Best Picture. No foreign language film has ever won Best Picture at the Oscars, so it has the chance to make history again. It’ll be difficult though. 1917 appears to the frontrunner right now.
