Warner Bros. can’t wait to get started on ‘Suicide Squad 2,’ setting the release date for August 6, 2021. James Gunn, the director of Guardians of the Galaxy, is set to write and direct this sequel. Production is scheduled to begin this fall.
And it looks like Will Smith will not be participating. He played Deadshot in the original film, but due to scheduling, he’s not expected to return for this sequel.
I’ve always thought the “scheduling” excuse was bullsh*t, mainly because if an actor truly wanted to be in a film, they would find a way to make it work. Maybe Smith does have something else he’s doing this fall, but if he REALLY wanted to be in the movie, he would make it work.
Safe to say, the studio is probably not thrilled with his decision…
Insiders say the studio has always wanted its biggest stars like Smith and Margot Robbie, who played Harley Quinn in the first pic, to return while figuring out other casting decisions along the way.
Smith’s reps have not responded to the reports, but we’ll keep you posted.[mashshare]
