Avengers: Endgame‘ has dominated the box office the past two weekends. It’s already made an incredible $640 million at the domestic box office and a record-breaking $2.2 billion around the world.

But will it top the box office here in the states for the third weekend in a row? Or will Ryan Reynolds’Detective Pikachu‘ film steal the number one spot away?

Well, it’s going to be close. According to the experts, Detective Pikachu could make as little as $50 million and as much as $80 million. Meanwhile, Avengers: Endgame is expected to bring in around $70 million.

It would be a pretty great surprise if Detective Pikachu beat Avengers, but honestly…I don’t see it happening. I have a hard time believing Pikachu will have a $80 million opening. I think $50 to $60 million is more likely, and I don’t think that’s going to be enough to beat Avengers.

IT WILL BE CLOSE THOUGH! The Pokemon live action/animated flick has been receiving mixed (to slightly positive) reviews from critics. Ryan Reynolds, Justice Smith, and Suki Waterhouse star.
