People have been waiting for this trailer for a long time, and finally, it has arrived. The first trailer for Denis Villeneuve’s iteration of ‘Dune‘ was released this week.
Villeneuve’s take on Frank Herbert’s novel is bolstered by an incredible cast that includes Timothee Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Javier Bardem and Zendaya.
The synopsis reads:
A mythic and emotionally charged hero’s journey, Dune tells the story of Paul Atreides (Chalamet), a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, who must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people. As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet’s exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence—a commodity capable of unlocking humanity’s greatest potential — only those who can conquer their fear will survive.
While watching the trailer, you should keep in mind that Chalamet has revealed that he only shot two scenes on green screen. The rest were out in the elements. Au naturel.
Dune is scheduled to hit theaters December 18, 2020. COVID-19 willing.
