You all know Joe Keery as the lovable Steve Harrington from the Netflix series Stranger Things.
But in his upcoming feature, Spree, he’s not going to be so lovable. In the film, Keery plays a bizarre rideshare driver named Kurt Kunkle, who becomes a murderer in pursuit of obtaining social media fame.
In addition to Keery, this flick co-stars Sasheer Zamata, David Arquette and Kyle Mooney.
Spree debuted at the Sundance Film Festival and was purchased for $2 million by AMC-owned RLJE Films.
Keery says once he read the script, he knew he had to be involved…
As an actor, you read so many things so ‘Spree’ really stood out from the first moment. It was a challenge to play a character who’s not likeable and gradually becomes a monster.
Spree is scheduled to be released inside theaters (maybe?) August 14. It’ll also be available on demand, just in case theaters aren’t open yet.
