Earlier this week, we shared the first images from the set of Martin Scorsese’s latest film, The Irishman. Now just two days later, the first teaser trailer has been released.
The mob drama stars Al Pacino, Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci. The movie plans to track the three characters through decades of their lives, which means all three stars will be getting a little cosmetic surgery via CGI .
Pesci stars as Pennsylvania mob boss Russell Bufalino, with Pacino co-starring as Teamsters president Jimmy Hoffa, and De Niro as their right-hand man, the titular Irishman, Frank Sheeran. The film will utilize extensive de-aging technology to tell its time-spanning story.
As we reported earlier this week, The Irishman will premiere at the New York Film Festival, and then will be released inside theaters as well as worldwide on Netflix.
According to recent reports, the plan was for a simple limited release inside theaters, but now Scorsese has demanded a wide release, and obviously Netflix said, “Of course. Whatever you want,” ’cause they ain’t about to piss off a legend.
