Childs play is perhaps one of Drake’s best songs. It’s also the name of a slasher film franchise led by a creepy a** doll named Chucky. Child’s Play was released back in 1988 and it ended up bringing home over $44 million at the box office against a budget of just $9 million.
The success of the first film (mixed with a cult following) helped produce six sequels and lots of merchandise. And now, in 2019, they’re set to release a remake of the film.
This new version of the film features Aubrey Plaza, Gabriel Bateman and ‘Atlanta‘ star Brian Tyree Henry. This installment will be the first to be made without series creator Don Mancini.
And it’s safe to say he was a little disappointed…
“Obviously my feelings were hurt. You know, I had just done two movies…forgive me if I sound defensive, [they] were both at 83 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. Even though they didn’t get theatrical releases, they were well regarded. And I did create the character and nurture the franchise for three f**king decades.”
Whoa. In any event, Child’s Play will hit theaters across the country June 21, 2019. Check out the trailer below…
