The romantic comedy genre is making a comeback, thanks to streaming services giving them another chance. Netflix has become the queen of romantic comedies lately, and now major studios are trying to cash in as well.
It was announced this week that Vince Vaughn and Sharon Horgan are set to star in the upcoming romantic comedy, The Last Drop.
Written by Brandon Murphy, Phillip Murphy, and Elizabeth Chomko (“What They Had”), follows culinary show host Clay Mason (Vaughn), a charming bon vivant whose endless meals and long nights of drinking have brought his career to a tipping point. Just as his debilitating lifestyle begins to unwind his career, he crosses paths with Holly (Horgan), a spirited antiques dealer who sees through Clay’s bravado and helps him find the strength to pull out of his tailspin.
Christopher Storer is directing the film. He has a long history of directing stand-up specials for several comedians. He also directed a few episodes of ‘Ramy‘ and produced Bo Burnham’s ‘Eighth Grade‘ film.
I’m secretly a huge Vince Vaughn fan, so I’m excited to see this movie. Storer seems to have a good handle on comedy, so I think this project has great potential.
No word on a release date, but we’ll keep you posted.
