You can complain all you want, but nothing is going to stop this Fast & Furious train. As most of you know, Fast and Furious 8 already has a planned 2017 release date. But for a few weeks now, people have been wondering if the film might be pushed back.
According to the rumors, Universal must talk with Vin Diesel before they hire a director for the final films, and apparently no one has impressed the 48-year-old actor/producer. There were even some people claiming Diesel wanted to direct the film himself.
But it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen. The face of the franchise went on his Facebook page a few days ago to keep those loyal Fast & Furious fans updated on the situation…
As you can see, the message is a little confusing. He clearly says no one has been offered the job. Heck, he even says no one has seen the script! But the way he ended the post made it seem like an announcement would be coming soon.
He did confirm one thing in the post: they will (finally) be ending things after this last trilogy is completed. Honestly, I feel like Furious 7 would have been a perfect ending to the franchise. But after a film makes that much money, you pretty much have to make another one.
We’ll keep you posted on the search for a new director. The next film in the franchise is scheduled to hit theaters April 14, 2017.
