Margot Robbie is getting her chance to shine in the upcoming dark comedy ‘I, Tonya,’ which centers on Tonya Harding’s attack on rival figure skater Nancy Kerrigan.
Robbie plays Harding in the film, and she clearly spent a lot of time preparing for this role. The teaser trailer is just 50 seconds long, but you really get the feeling that she is Harding. You don’t see Robbie trying to play Harding. She makes it look effortless.
The movie was directed by Craig Gillespie and written by Steven Rogers. In addition to Robbie, Sebastian Stan, Caitlin Carver, and Allison Janney also star. It’s scheduled to hit theaters December 8, 2017.

“Based on unbelievable but true events, ‘I, Tonya’ is the darkly comedic tale of American figure skater Tonya Harding and one of the most sensational scandals in sports history. Though Harding was the first American woman to complete a triple axel in competition, her legacy has forever been defined by her association with an infamous, ill-conceived and worse-executed attack on fellow Olympic competitor Nancy Kerrigan.”
