Tom Holland will be taking a break from Spider-Man to film an upcoming Fred Astaire biopic for Sony.
There were rumors of the 25-year-old actor landing the part, and he confirmed those rumors during a recent interview with AP. He confirmed that he will play the legendary actor/singer/dancer in the upcoming biopic.
But it’s all very fresh, “The script came in a week ago. I haven’t read it yet, they haven’t given it to me,” he revealed during the interview.
He did say that Oscar-nominated producer Amy Pascal has read the script, and she FaceTimed with him while he was taking a bath.
She FaceTimed me earlier. I was in the bath. And we had a lovely FaceTime, but I will be playing Fred Astaire.
The casting decision certainly makes sense. Not only is Holland a great actor, he’s also a surprisingly talented dancer. He took lessons when he was a kid.
And he showed off his skills during this insane performance on Lip Sync Battle...
Dude is ridiculously talented.
