‘Frozen‘ took over the world back in November of 2013. The animated Disney flick became a massive hit, making over $1.2 billion worldwide.
Not only was it a hit at the box office, but it also took over toy stores across the country as well. It was an insanely profitable film for the studio, and now they’re ready to do it again with Frozen II.
The sequel is set to be released November 22, 2019, and according to early tracking reports, it’s expected to earn over $100 million during its opening weekend.
A triple-digit debut for ‘Frozen II’ would be a jump on the original. The 2013 animated musical-adventure launched over Thanksgiving, generating $67.4 million over the weekend and a record-setting $93.6 million through its first five days of release.
If the tracking is accurate, it’ll likely break some records, at least in its opening weekend. Beyond that, who knows. If the audience doesn’t connect, it might fade away quicker than the original.
But if it’s another hit? The sky is the limit. Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff and Josh Gad all have returned for this sequel.
