Steven Yeun, best known for his work on The Walking Dead, is getting the leading role he deserves in the upcoming A24 film, Minari.
The film was a huge hit at the Sundance Film Festival. Several critics said it was their favorite movie of the year.
Minari was written/directed by Lee Isaac Chung. Inspired by his own childhood, the script tells the story of a Korean-American family that moves to a small town in Arkansas in search for better opportunities.
The cast, which includes Steven Yeun, Yeri Han, Alan Kim, Noel Kate Cho, Yuh-Jung Youn and Will Patton, is one of the year’s finest. A possible contender for the SAG cast ensemble prize, the A24 film started its run from Park City, Utah very strong.
No release date for the movie has been released, but sources say A24 plans to release it before the Academy Awards’ Feb. 28, 2021 eligibility deadline. They plan to push hard for nominations, including a Best Actor nom for Yeun and Best Director for Chung.
