It was revealed this week during CinemaCon that ‘The Conjuring 3‘ will get a September 11, 2020 release date. The horror flick is expected to begin filming this summer.
Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga will both be returning to reprise their respective roles as Ed and Lorraine Warren. A specific synopsis has not yet been released but The Conjuring 3 will focus on a murder trial where demonic possession was used as a legal defense.
Michael Chaves will reportedly direct this latest installment in the horror universe. It’s interesting because Chaves is making his directorial debut this year with The Curse of La Llorona. The supernatural horror flick will hit theaters on April 19, 2019, and has been receiving mixed reviews from critics.
The studio must have really liked Chaves’ direction in the film to give him keys to The Conjuring franchise. As some of you might know, the first two ‘Conjuring’ movies were directed by James Wan.
The Conjuring 2 made $340 million at the box office while the first film made $319 million. Both films were made on a budget under $40 million, so it’s safe say they’ve been extremely profitable.
