Zoe Kravitz Says She Was Rejected From ‘Dark Knight’ Audition Because She Was Too Urban

Zoe Kravtiz and Robert Pattinson killed it in the recent ‘The Batman‘ flick. Both stars are earning praise for their performances as Catwoman and Batman, respectively.

But during a recent interview in The Observer, Kravitz revealed she tried to land a role in Christopher Nolan’s’ The Dark Night Rises’ but was barred from auditioning because she was deemed too urban.

I don’t know if it came directly from Chris Nolan. I think it was probably a casting director of some kind, or a casting director’s assistant…Being a woman of color and being an actor and being told at that time that I wasn’t able to read because of the color of my skin, and the word urban being thrown around like that, that was what was really hard about that moment.

Yeah, that sucks. I mean, Kravitz is light-skinned, so if even she was too “urban” for the franchise, then damn. It kinda shows you much the industry has changed since then. The Dark Knight Rises was released in 2012, which truly feels like a different lifetime.

This isn’t the first time Kravitz has talked about this. In a 2015 interview with Nylon, she revealed the role she was trying to audition for was a smaller one, and that she couldn’t get inside the room for an audition because the film wasn’t “going urban” for the role.

Kravitz was confused:

What does that have to do with anything?’ I have to play the role like, ‘Yo, what’s up, Batman? What’s going on with you?’

We’ll see if Nolan responds to this. If he does, it’ll probably be an, “I wasn’t aware of this” type comment.

Watch Zoe Kravitz In The First Trailer For Cyber-Thriller ‘Kimi’

Are you ready for a new Steven Soderbergh thriller? You better be, ’cause it’s coming! The filmmaker’s latest cyber-thriller ‘Kimi’ is set to hit HBO Max on February 10.

The film stars Zoe Kravitz as a voice-stream interpreter who believes she has intercepted audio of a murder, sending her down a dangerous path as she attempts to solve the crime.

The premise certainly sounds like it has potential. You can see the movie instantly, you know? In addition to Kravitz, this thriller will star Rita Wilson, Byron Bowers, Jaime Camil, and Erika Christensen.

Soderbergh’s most recent film, No Sudden Move, was released last summer to mostly positive reviews from critics. He’s one of the more talented filmmakers in Hollywood, so we’re really looking forward to this flick. It should be an entertaining ride.

Check out the trailer below. As stated above, Kimi will be released on HBO Max on February 10, which means you won’t have to leave your house to watch it!

Watch The New Trailer For ‘The Batman’ Starring Robert Pattinson And Zoe Kravitz

Now that Spider-Man: No Way Home is starting to slow down at the box off just a little (after making over $1 billion) Warner Bros. is hoping people have enough room in their comic book hearts for The Batman.

The studio released a new trailer for the DC adaptation starring Robert Pattinson as Batman and Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman.

The pair will team up against the villainous Riddler (Paul Dano), a serial killer who is obsessed with the Wayne family. But trust will have to grow between Batman and Catwoman in order to rid Gotham City of one of its most evil inhabitants.

In addition to Dano, Kravitz and Pattinson, this flick will star Andy Serkis, Colin Farrell and Peter Sarsgaard.

Matt Reeves directed this movie and co-wrote the script alongside Peter Craig. Warner Bros. really needs this movie to do big numbers. They have struggled recently with the Batman franchise.

The Batman is set to hit theaters on March 4, 2022. Watch the trailer below…

Zoe Kravitz Set To Make Feature Directing Debut With Thriller ‘Pussy Island’

I don’t know about you, but when I see the title, ‘Pussy Island‘ my interest goes up a little bit. It’s way better than Gilligan’s Island or Temptation Island. Out of all the islands out there, I prefer Pussy Island.

Anyway, I’m getting distracted. Pussy Island is an upcoming genre thriller from Zoe Kravitz. She will make her debut as a feature director. She also co-wrote the script with E.T. Feigenbaum, which sounds like a made up name.

According to the report, Channing Tatum will star in the film.

Frida is a young, clever, Los Angeles cocktail waitress who has her eyes set on the prize: philanthropist and tech mogul Slater King (Tatum). When she skillfully maneuvers her way into King’s inner circle and ultimately an intimate gathering on his private island, she is ready for a journey of a lifetime. Despite the epic setting, beautiful people, ever-flowing champagne and late-night dance parties, Frida can sense that there’s more to this island than meets the eye. Something she can’t quite put her finger on. Something that is a bit terrifying.

Well, damn. Maybe Pussy Island ain’t that great after all. Everything in moderation, eh? Maybe we don’t need a whole a** island of pussy.

By the way, Kravitz is super excited to be making this movie, which she should be. It’s a long process. She started writing the script back in 2017.

This is my first feature and it’s taken many years to get to this point and I’m very excited to step into this new phase. There’s absolutely a thriller element to the film, but it has comedy, drama and real heart. At heart through, it’s a genre thriller.

I’m looking forward to this one!
