The upcoming ‘Dune’ film is perhaps the most anticipated movie of the year. It seems like everyone is talking about it. The remake, adapted from Frank Herbert’s 1965 novel, stars Timothee Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin and many more.
A teaser trailer for this flick was previously released, but now this week, Warner Bros. has blessed us all with the full trailer.
The trailer includes plenty of fight scenes, including hand to hand, mass warfare and space combat. And of course, a shot of the gargantuan sandworms that inhabit Dune and are feared by all.
So if you’re like me, and you’re not familiar with the work of Dune, you may want a description of what to expect, right?
Don’t worry, we have you covered:
A mythic and emotionally charged hero’s journey, ‘Dune’ tells the story of Paul Atreides, a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, who must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people. As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet’s exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence — a commodity capable of unlocking humanity’s greatest potential — only those who can conquer their fear will survive.
And if you’re like me and still have no idea what the hell it’s about, even after reading that description, well…I can’t help you.
Dune was directed by the incredibly talented Denis Villeneuve. It’s set to hit theaters (and HBO MAX) on October 22, 2021.
A million years ago, we told you about how Zendaya had teamed up with ‘Euphoria‘ creator Sam Levinson to produce a film during the beginning of the pandemic.
They shot everything in secret in a beautiful location in California, and it all started with a phone call. According to the report, Zendaya was bored, not being able to film the second season of Euphoria, so she called up Levinson and told him to write a movie for her.
Not long after, he had a completed script and they managed to convince John David Washington to star alongside Zendaya.
After completing production, Netflix was quick to pick up the film. They picked it up for a cool $30 million, and now it’s set to be released on the streaming giant in February.
Malcolm & Marie sees a filmmaker (Washington) and his girlfriend (Zendaya) return home following a celebratory movie premiere as he awaits what’s sure to be imminent critical and financial success. The evening suddenly takes a turn as revelations about their relationships begin to surface, testing the strength of their love.
Malcolm & Marie will be released on Netflix on February 5. Check out the trailer below…
Remember earlier this year when it was revealed that Sam Levinson wrote/directed a film with Zendaya and John David Washington while in quarantine?
The film, Malcolm & Marie, was one of the first movies to shoot during the lockdown, and they did it in secret and under strict COVID-19 guidelines.
The film came about after Levinson and Zendaya were told their series Euphoria had to shut down. The actress asked Levinson if he would write and direct a movie with her during quarantine. The concept came through quickly as did the script, and they focused on Washington, the fast rising star of BlackKklansman and Tenet.
They shot the film back in late June at Feldman Architecture’s Caterpillar House in Carmel, California.

The evening suddenly takes a turn as revelations about their relationships begin to surface, testing the strength of their love.
Levinson put together a promo reel for the movie and it was put in front of buyers last week. According to the report from Deadline, several studios were in on the bidding, but Netflix came out on top.
They reportedly purchased worldwide rights for nearly $30 million, which is pretty damn impressive for Levinson and the crew, considering it was shot in just two weeks under a laundry list of restrictions.
The cast and crew of Malcom & Marie will share a portion of the proceeds of this sale with Feeding America. The film was shot at a modest budget and some of the key below the liners made deals that profit off the back end. The big sale will make that a reality and a big help for a time that work is difficult to find.
There are a few features currently being filmed in California now that some restrictions have been lifted, but Zendaya has all of them beat.
Back in March, ‘Euphoria‘ creator Sam Levinson received a phone call from HBO informing him that filming on season 2 of the show had to shut down.
Not long after, Zendaya called him up and asked him if he could write and direct a movie during quarantine.
Within six days, Levinson had cracked Malcolm & Marie. When it came to thinking about who could spar with Zendaya, Levinson kept seeing and hearing in his head BlacKkKlansman Golden Globe nominee and Tenet star Washington.
Given the filmmaker and the cast’s focus to tell stories in a safe way during uncertain times, Levinson, his production partner and wife Ashley Levinson (producer of Bombshell, EP of Green Knight, co-EP of Queen & Slim), longtime producer Kevin Turen, Washington and Zendaya took it upon themselves to bankroll Malcolm & Marie during pre-production and production.
They worked with doctors, lawyers, the WGA, DGA and SAG to meet all the requirements necessary to film.
Malcolm & Marie found an ideal location in Feldman Architecture’s Caterpillar House. Not only was it legal to shoot on private property in Monterey County, but the Caterpillar House, on 33 acres of land, I hear, accentuated the emotion and choreography of Levinson’s screenplay while providing privacy for the production and distance from anyone outside the quarantine group.
Not a lot is known about the movie, but it’s reportedly in the same arena as Marriage Story, presumably following a married couple going through quarantine together.
Filming took place between June 17-July 2. No word on a potential release date, but we’ll keep you posted.
It’s a great Wednesday because the new trailer for ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming‘ has been released, and this time all the characters get in on the action.
This new trailer has a nice mix of action and genuinely funny moments. It almost feels like a more kid-friendly version of Deadpool, which might sound lame, but it looks like it’s going to work.
It should do extremely well with teens, and it feels mature enough to be a hit with the older audience as well. In the trailer below, we get our first good look at Zendaya and Donald Glover.
Zendaya’s “Michelle” character actually has one of the funniest lines in the trailer. We won’t spoil the jokes for you because we’re not evil, and we actually care about your viewing experience.
The film will hit theaters July 7, 2017, so you don’t have long to wait now. Pop some fireworks for the 4th, and then three days later you’ll be inside a theater, eating popcorn, watching one of the hottest films of the summer.
(skip to the 31:40 mark to hear him talk about the film)
As you all know by now, Spider-Man: Homecoming has developed an amazing ensemble of actors. You have Tom Holland, Zendaya, Robert Downey Jr., Marisa Tomei, Donald Glover, Michael Keaton, and the hilarious Hannibal Buress.
It was reported earlier this summer that the 33-year-old comedian would be joining the cast, but no one knew how big or small his role would be. The studio has done a wonderful job of keeping the roles a mystery.
But this week one of those mysteries was solved. During an interview with The Breakfast Club radio show, Buress revealed he will be playing a gym teacher at Midtown High School, “I play one of the dumbass characters that don’t realize he’s Spider-Man. He’s Peter Parker. I’m just like… oh man, this guy’s really athletic!”
What’s interesting about his reveal is that it seems to confirm the call sheet that was leaked for the movie, which listed his role as Coach Wilson. It also listed other members of the school staff as actors Martin Starr, Kenneth Choi and Selenis Leyva.
And for those wondering, the sheet still lists Zendaya’s name in the film as “Michelle,” but you shouldn’t focus on that name too much. According to the reports, the reveal of her true identity will be saved for the end of the movie.
Spider-Man: Homecoming will hit theaters July 7, 2017.
