Liev Schreiber Joins Will Smith In Tennis Drama ‘King Richard’

Filming has started on the upcoming tennis drama ‘King Richard‘ starring Will Smith. In the film, Smith plays Richard Williams, the father of tennis legends, Serena and Venus Williams.

Reinaldo Marcus Green is directing this flick, which is currently in production in Los Angeles.

According to a new report, there has been a late addition to the cast. Liev Schreiber will be joining the movie as tennis coach Paul Cohen, a noted instructor who worked with other tennis greats, including John McEnroe.

The script by Zach Baylin depicts the determination and fortitude of Williams, who trained his two daughters to play tennis, beginning on cracked courts in Compton, California, to later coaching them to Grand Slam wins and shaping them into two of the greatest players in the sport.

This film has the potential to earn Smith an Oscar nomination if they do it right. We all know he’s been chasing a win for a while now. This might be it.

King Richard will hit theaters on November 25, 2020.

‘Bad Boys For Life’ Has Great Weekend At The Box Office

Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are probably celebrating this Monday because they have produced another hit.

The comedy-action sequel ‘Bad Boys for Life‘ hit theaters this past weekend, and it earned an impressive $62.1 million over the weekend. If you include today, it’s earned over $70 million.

It was expected to earn around $40 to $45 million, so earning over $70 million has to spark some celebration.

Solid word of mouth from both audiences and critics (it landed an “A” CinemaScore from moviegoers and a 76% on Rotten Tomatoes) boosted ticket sales and justified Sony’s decision to revive a 25-year-old franchise. ‘Bad Boys for Life’ now holds the second-biggest opening ever for a January release (behind ‘American Sniper’ with $107 million), as well as Sony’s best start for an R-rated movie.

There is just something about that on-screen chemistry between Lawrence and Smith.

Meanwhile, Robert Downey Jr.’s ‘Dolittle‘ film failed miserably at the box office, making just over $20 million. Its budget was close to $200 million.

It’ll have to find extreme success overseas to make some money back.

Martin Lawrence And Will Smith Arrive At ‘Bad Boys For Life’ Premiere In Style

Will Smith and Martin Lawrence celebrated like kings last night in Hollywood during the premiere of their ‘Bad Boys For Life‘ film.

The premiere went down at the famous TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. Martin and Will arrived to the premiere in a pretty balla’ car, and of course Will was the one driving. His character in the Bad Boys franchise is also clowning on Martin for his driving.

Martin’s entire family was there to support him during the premiere, and Will had his son’s Trey and Jaden.

But let’s get to the important stuff. What are the critics saying about this film? Well, the reactions have been mixed-to-mostly positive. It sits at a comfortable 77% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, but there are a few, “Well, it’s not that bad” reviews counted.

Some critics complained that it was “tired” and was a “shoot-by-numbers affair” which is not exactly surprising. They’re going to stick with what made the previous films a success.

One interesting thing though is that people are really hyped on the ending, even those who didn’t like the film.

Overall, Bad Boys for Life is probably a wash, but it ends so well that I now find myself not entirely opposed to the idea of a fourth Bad Boys entry. Whatcha gonna do?

Watch Will Smith And Martin Lawrence In The Second Trailer For ‘Bad Boys for Life’

Do you want some action? How about a little comedy mixed in as well? If so, then you’ve clicked on the right post.

As most of you probably know, Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are teaming up again for the upcoming Bad Boys for Life film. The third installment in the franchise is set to hit theaters January 17, 2020.

Smith and Lawrence are returning as detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett who, along with Miami PD’s elite AMMO team, attempt to take down drug cartel chief Armando Armas.

The studio just released a new trailer for the movie, and it’s pretty intense. Heck, an f-bomb is even dropped.

This movie might not win any awards, but it at least looks like it’s going to be a lot of fun.

‘Joker’ Continues Box Office Domination With $55 Million, ‘Gemini Man’ Flops With $20 Million Debut

It looks like the controversy surrounding ‘Joker‘ helped the film in a strange way. Everyone wanted to see what all the fuss was about, and it’s generating lots of $$$ at the box office.

In its second weekend, Joker took in a cool $55 million, which means it has a 10-day domestic total of $192.7 million. Globally, it has a ridiculous $543.9 million, setting itself up for a possible $1 billion haul.

The film worked with a budget of around $65 million, so it’s all profit for the studio.

Sadly, that’s not the case for Will Smith’s latest film, Gemini Man. The film opened to just $20 million this weekend, and that’s pretty terrible considering the $140 million budget.

A $20 million opening for the costly Gemini Man, which likely tops out at $50 million domestic, is awful. Even if it gets to $200 million worldwide, Paramount and its partners are looking at a major loss. What had been projected to gross around $30 million came in a third lower.

But hey, at least Gemini Man beat Jexi, which released nationwide this weekend and only made $3.1 million. The movie has a terrible 11% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Ouch.

Thankfully it only had a $5 million budget.

Will Smith To Play American Crime Boss Nicky Barnes In Netflix Movie ‘The Council’

We have grown accustomed to seeing Will Smith take on family-friendly, inspirational roles, but he’s about to change things up in the upcoming biopic, The Council.

In the movie, Smith will play American crime boss Nicky Barnes. Peter Landesman will write the script, which is significant because he also wrote Concussion. Smith earned a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor for his work in the film.

‘The Council’ “will tell the untold story of a crime syndicate consisting of the seven black men who ruled Harlem in the 1970s and early ’80s.”

It should be an interesting role for Smith to take on. As we said earlier, this is a bit of a detour in his career.

The Council will center on the syndicate’s head, Nicky Barnes, who was dubbed by the New York Times as ‘Mr. Untouchable.’ The film will focus on the Shakespearean court intrigue between Barnes and all the different members of the syndicate, as one unlikely rising protégé emerges.

No word on a release date, but we will keep you posted.

Will Smith And Martin Lawrence Are Back Together In First ‘Bad Boys for Life’ Trailer

It’s hard to believe, but it’s been over 15 years since the last ‘Bad Boys‘ film was released. Bad Boys II came out in 2003 and while it received poor reviews from critics, it still made over $270 million worldwide.

Now Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are finally ready to return in the third installment, Bad Boys for Life.

The trailer kicks off in classic ‘Bad Boys’ fashion with Lawrence botching an interrogation of a tattooed suspect. ‘I’m gonna penetrate this man’s soul with my heart,’ says Lawrence, before getting knocked out with a punch. Smith retorts, ‘How deep do you think you got into his soul?’

A group of young cops, played by Vanessa Hudgens, Charles Melton and Alexander Ludwig, will be helping Smith and Lawrence along the way.

Michael Bay directed the first two films in the franchise, but he did not return for this third one.

Bad Boys for Life hits theaters January 17, 2019. Check out the trailer below…

Take A Look At The Just Released Salaries Of Some Very Famous Movie Stars

We’re all interested in money, especially other people’s money. We want to know how much everyone is getting, even those who are clearly making way more. Maybe it’s some sort of torture or perhaps it’s just general curiosity.

Either way, you’ll probably be interested in the recent Hollywood salary report from Variety.

In the report, the salaries of several stars are revealed, including Kristen Stewart, Martin Lawrence, Idris Elba, Margot Robbie, Leonardo DiCaprio, Will Smith, and many more.

What’s interesting is that the celebrities who are working on Netflix films are actually getting bigger paychecks than those working with your typical Hollywood studio.

For example, Ryan Reynolds is getting $27 million for the upcoming Netflix film ‘Six Underground‘ and Will Smith is expected to get around $30 million for reprising his role in Bright 2.

Meanwhile, Idris Elba is getting just $8 million for Hobbs & Shaw and Leonardo DiCaprio is getting $10 million for Once Upon a Time In Hollywood.

The discrepancy between the numbers seems rather large; however, there is an important note to consider. With Netflix, what you see is what you get, meaning the $27 million paycheck Reynolds gets is all he’ll get, even if the film became a massive hit for Netflix.

Most studios offer stars lucrative back-end deals, which means if the movie is a success, they’ll earn more money. So while studio films might be more of a risk for an actor, they could be more beneficial if the movie is a success.

Will Smith Battles Himself In First Trailer For ‘Gemini Man’

We are finally seeing the first trailer for a film that has been in the works for over 20 years.

Will Smith plays a 50-year-old version of himself and a 23-year-old version of himself in the upcoming action-thriller, Gemini Man.

Smith plays Henry Brogan, an elite assassin looking to get out of the game, who is suddenly targeted and pursued by a mysterious young operative that seemingly can predict his every move. If you’ve watched the trailer, you’ll already know why – this new hitman is a clone of Brogan, 25 years his junior.

Ang Lee is the filmmaker behind this project. His name might sound familiar to you as he’s responsible for directing Brokeback Mountain and Life of Pi.

While teasing footage of the movie at CinemaCon, Lee told the crowd, “If you’re a director and you get to work with Will Smith, you should consider yourself lucky — and thanks to new technology, I get two.”

And we as an audience get two as well! Check out the first trailer for Gemini Man below. It’s scheduled to hit theaters October 11, 2019.

Disney Gives Us First Full Trailer For ‘Aladdin’ And It Actually Doesn’t Look That Bad (VIDEO)

The drama surrounding this upcoming live-action Aladdin flick has been pretty incredible. It all started when Will Smith posted the cover photo from Entertainment Weekly’s December issue, which showed the Aladdin cast. In the photo, Smith’s Genie was not blue.

This upset lots of people. There was so much outrage that Smith had to comment and assure fans that he would indeed be blue in the movie.

That calmed everyone down, but then the drama cranked up again when the teaser was released and Smith was TOO BLUE! That’s right, people thought he looked like a fool. People were making fun of him and even the entire movie.

But now Disney has released the first full trailer for the film, and people are starting to sing a different song. This new trailer features songs from the movie and just overall has a taste of life to it that was missing from the previous photos/teasers.

Hell, this trailer might even make you like Smith’s Genie! Check it out below. Aladdin is set to hit theaters May 24, 2019.
