Tom Cruise Reveals On Instagram That ‘Top Gun 2’ Has Started Filming, Check Out The Photo Inside!

Top Gun 2 is coming whether you want it or not, so you better get ready. The original film was released back in 1986, and I’m not afraid to admit it’s a lot of fun to watch. It’s one of those movies I can watch over and over again.

But a sequel? 32 years after the original film was released? That doesn’t spark a lot of excitement inside me.

Early Thursday morning, Tom Cruise went on his Instagram account and posted the photo you see below, with the simple caption, “#Day1”

So yeah, filming on this sequel has started.  This film will reportedly have the title ‘Top Gun: Maverick,’ and it’s scheduled to hit theaters July 12, 2019.

The script was written by Justin Marks, the writer behind Disney’s ‘The Jungle Book‘ film in 2016.

It’ll certainly be interesting to see how this plays out. We don’t know much about the movie. They are keeping details locked away for now, but as production moves forward, we’ll likely hear more.

For now, you can rest easy knowing Cruise still has the need for speed.

Watch The New Action-Packed Trailer For ‘Mission: Impossible — Fallout’

Tom Cruise is 55-years-old. Just think about that for a minute. In five years, Tom Freakin’ Cruise will be 60-years-old. If that doesn’t make you feel old, then I don’t know what will.

But you know, maybe it shouldn’t make you feel THAT old, ’cause even though he’s pushing 60, Cruise still looks and moves like a 35-year-old. He has returned for the sixth installment of the Mission: Impossible franchise, and he’s performing the most dangerous stunts of his career

You can see him leaping from buildings, flying a helicopter, and jumping out of airplanes in the trailer below.

As you all know, we are not fans of sequels on this site. Franchises (looking at you Fast & Furious) that go on for too long are the worst, but for some reason, the Mission: Impossible story still works. This movie looks great, and it’s probably going to perform well at the box office. Cruise might be starring in this franchise ’til he’s 70.

Mission: Impossible — Fallout will hit theaters July 27, 2018.

Check Out The First Trailer For ‘Mission: Impossible – Fallout’ (VIDEO)

Sprinkled inside the box of Super Bowl commercials every year are a few movie trailers for the blockbuster films scheduled to be released in the summer.

One of the trailers released on Sunday night was for Tom Cruise’sMission: Impossible — Fallout‘ film. It’s the sixth installment in the spy series, which first started when Cruise was just 34-years-old. He’s now 55, and he’s showing no signs of an early retirement.

The last film in the franchise, Rogue Nation, received great reviews from critics and made over $650 million at the box office. Christopher McQuarrie directed that installment, and he returned for this sequel, as did Alec Baldwin and Rebecca Ferguson.

‘Top Gun 2’ Gets Release Date, Find Out When Maverick Returns To The Big Screen Inside!

We told you earlier this year that a sequel to Top Gun was definitely going to happen, and now we have an official release date for you. Top Gun 2 will hit theaters July 12, 2019.

The original film was released in 1986, so this sequel will hit theaters 33 years later. That’s pretty insane. I mean, we see reboots and remakes that happen decades after the original film, but a direct sequel? That’s pretty rare.

According to multiple reports, Joseph Kosinski will direct the sequel. He worked with Tom Cruise on the 2013 film, Oblivion. Cruise will be returning to the role of Maverick in this sequel, and sadly Goose will still be dead. We were hoping they might pretend like his death never happened, but sadly that’s not the case.

An official title for the film has not been released, so we’ll continue to call it Top Gun 2 until they figure that sh*t out. No word on who else might be returning from the original film, but we expect some surprises.

We’ll keep you posted as more information is released. For now, let’s watch this scene on repeat…

Critics Are Saying ‘The Mummy’ Is Tom Cruise’s Worst Film Ever

I was going to start this post off by saying, “poor Tom Cruise,” but then I thought about his life, his money, his fame, and I realized no one should ever feel bad for Cruise .

But still, he must feel a bit shi**y today. The reviews for Universal’s monster movie, The Mummy, are coming in, and they are brutal. Critics claim it’s the worst Tom Cruise film ever. It currently sits at 18% on Rotten Tomatoes. It has 119 rotten reviews and just 27 fresh reviews.

Sara Stewart from the New York Post wrote this in her review:

“It’s hard to tell if it’s Cruise or the dragging weight of the movie, but he’s almost totally devoid of the star power that makes the “Mission: Impossible” movies compulsively watchable.”

And J.R. Kinnard from PopMatters offered up this great line:

“A wise man once said, ‘Only a fool would make a campy horror movie into a serious drama.’ Actually, no one ever said that, but they should have, preferably on Tom Cruise’s voicemail.”

It’s also bad news at the box office for the film. It brought home around $2.7 million during its Thursday night preview, which is a terrible start, and puts it on track to be the lowest opening in The Mummy franchise. Experts believe it will make $30 million this weekend. That’s below 1999’s The Mummy and The Mummy Returns.

The one bit of good news is that the film is performing well internationally…

“It opened in an additional 33 markets on Thursday with strong results in both Russia ($1.6 million and 62 percent market share for the biggest Tom Cruise opening day ever) and Brazil ($526,000 for the biggest Tom Cruise opening day ever). It also opened in China Friday, with early results indicating an strong $18.7 million (127.4M RMB) opening day, which would also make the biggest opening for a Tom Cruise film in that market. Early total for the Wednesday and Thursday openers are landing at $20.5 million.”

Tom Cruise Confirms That ‘Top Gun 2’ Will Happen, And He Already Has A Director In Mind!

Well, Tom Cruise shocked the world again Tuesday morning during an interview on the Australian talk show Sunrise. The 54-year-old actor confirmed that a sequel to the 1986 film ‘Top Gun‘ is definitely happening.

He revealed that filming would probably begin “in the next year,” which means we could be looking at a 2019 release date, possibly late 2018 if they really get moving with it.

According to sources who talked with Variety, Joseph Kosinski is the frontrunner to direct this sequel. He directed Cruise in the 2013 film ‘Oblivion,” which received mixed reviews from critics, but made a lot of money at the box office.

No official offer has been sent out to Kosinski, but the sources say it could happen very soon.

“Cruise met with potential helmers prior to and while filming ‘Mission Impossible: 6’ in London to ensure the ‘Top Gun’  sequel was ready to go after production wrapped. Even with Cruise and Kosinski having previously worked together on the 2013 sci-fi action film, sources say it was Kosinski’s vision the sequel’s direction that officially won him the job.”

As mentioned above, the original film was released back in 1986. If the sequel is released in 2019, that will put it 33 years after the original.

That’s a long time. I mean, if someone was 50 when the original was released, that means they’ll either be dead or 83 when the sequel comes out, and let’s face it…there aren’t a lot of 83-year-olds hitting up the movie theater.

But the original film still has a lot of young fans. I’ve seen the film at least 5 times and I was born after it was released, so there will still be a large audience for this sequel.

We’ll keep you posted as more information is released.

What The Heck? Mission: Impossible Producer Claims Tom Cruise Has Been Training For A Mission: Impossible 6 Stunt For A Year: “It’s Mind-Blowing”

Tom Cruise loves to do his own stunts. We all know this. He’s performed some incredibly dangerous stunts while working on the Mission: Impossible franchise. In Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol, Cruise was hanging from the tallest building in the world.

And in the latest installment (Rogue Nation) Cruise topped that by hanging outside a plane while it took off from the runway.

So how could they possibly make things more dangerous for the upcoming Mission: Impossible 6? We’re not sure, but producer David Ellison claims they have found a way, and this next stunt is going to be mind-blowing.

Cruise has allegedly been training for this stunt for a year…

“And I will say after the Burj [Khalifa] we thought it was going to be impossible to top that stunt, and then Tom did the A380 for the plane. What Tom is doing in this movie I believe will top anything that’s come before. It is absolutely unbelievable—he’s been training for a year. It is going to be, I believe, the most impressive and unbelievable thing that Tom Cruise has done in a movie, and he has been working on it since right after Rogue Nation came out. It’s gonna be mind-blowing.”

That’s a grand statement because Cruise has done some pretty unbelievable things in movies. Remember when he danced in his underwear?

Or when he put his career on the line in Jerry Maguire?

It doesn’t get more dangerous than that.

Say Whaaat? Henry Cavill Will Join Tom Cruise In ‘Mission: Impossible 6’

Yes. They are making another Mission: Impossible movie, because no mission is impossible for Hollywood, except of course to go out on a limb and make something original. That seems to be impossible.

But enough of my bitching. It’s Friday, and to be honest, the last Mission: Impossible film was actually pretty good.

The upcoming sequel will bring back director Christopher McQuarrie and Tom Cruise, and thanks to an Instagram post from the director, we know Henry Cavill has joined the cast.

Cavill replied to the post in the comments with a short message, “How can I say no to a man with such perfect hair…” he wrote.

And then they had this conversation (seriously)

McQuarrie: Excellent. Just a few caveats: must enjoy extreme heights, high speeds, motor vehicles of all varieties (especially aircraft), practical stunts, firearms, and sporadic exposition. All good?

Cavill: Only if I get to fly for real.

McQuarrie: I do believe I specified practical stunts. You in?

Cavill: Oh ok…..I’m in!

McQuarrie: Outstanding. Welcome aboard. Your social media account will self destruct in 5 seconds.

There you have it. Superman is coming to the Mission: Impossible franchise. Are you excited?

‘The Mummy’ Releases Trailer Teaser AND Poster, Check It All Out Inside!

Are you excited for another reboot? You better be, because it’s all you’re getting for the next 10 years. The Mummy, the first installment in the Universal Monsters Cinematic Universe, has released its first trailer teaser and poster.

The reboot of the classic Mummy franchise stars Tom Cruise, Annabelle Wallis, Jake Johnson, Russell Crowe, Courtney B. Vance and Sofia Boutella. The plot summary states that the mummy is an ancient princess who awakens “bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension.”

As mentioned above, this is the first movie in the Marvel-style universe that Universal is trying to create with these monster films. If this one performs well at the box office, then get ready for a monster invasion. All your favorites will be coming back.

The teaser below is only 15 seconds, so don’t get too excited. The film won’t be released until June 9, 2017, so you still have a lot of time to wait. A full trailer will likely be released real soon.

They also released a poster. You can check that out below the teaser trailer. I like the poster more than the trailer.

The Next Mission: Impossible Film Has Got A Release Date, Find Out When The Completely Unnecessary Sixth Film Will Hit Theaters!

Did you want Donald Trump to be your next president? Did you want a Mission: Impossible 6? NO? YOU DIDN’T? WELL IT DOESN’T MATTER WHAT YOU WANT BECAUSE MONEY RULES EVERY FREAKING THING.

Just like Trump, the Mission: Impossible film franchise is only getting stronger as it continues to move down the tracks to hell. The last two films in the series have not only performed well at the box office, but they’ve also impressed the critics.

The fifth film, Rogue Nation, scored a 93% on Rotten Tomatoes and that helped make it a huge success at the box office. It made over $680 million at the worldwide box office, which made it the second highest-grossing film in the franchise.

All this means a sixth movie will be coming soon. Real soon. Deadline is reporting that the untitled movie will be released inside theaters on July 27, 2018. Obviously, since we’re still in the early stages, not much is known about this project. They always promise things will be “bigger and better” much like Vin Diesel is always promising with the Fast & Furious franchise.

It’s difficult to imagine how they could push things in the stunt department. Tom Cruise has pretty much done everything one man can do.

We’ll keep you posted as more information is released.
