‘The Purge 3’ Will NOT Be About The First Purge

Today is a good day, folks. The producers working on the Purge franchise and the creators of Platinum Dunes productions, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form, have shot down the prequel rumor surrounding the third Purge film.

During an interview with Collider, they were asked directly about those rumors claiming this third film would revolve around the first Purge.

“I read that too about the first night of The Purge.  We don’t know anything about that.  I read that and I haven’t heard that so I’m not sure what that was.  The material that we’re considering right now [for ‘The Purge 3’] is not the first night of The Purge.”

I know some fans out there were really excited about the idea, but a lot of fans (myself included) were not exactly thrilled with it. Prequels to horror films are notoriously awful.

So what will this third movie be about? We still don’t know, but we have been hearing rumors that Frank Grillo will be returning. We know he wants to return, and Fuller certainly left the door open in this recent interview.

“Listen, we loved working with him and we thought that he was so good in that role and, you know, if it works to have him back we would really be very excited about that.”

As we reported earlier this month, The Purge 3 will not be released until next year. We will continue to keep you updated. We are sure there will be more details coming out later this year.

‘The Purge 3’ Finally Has A Release Date, Get All The Details Inside!

It’s the moment you all have been waiting for. The third film in the surprisingly successful horror/thriller series now has a release date. Some people assumed The Purge 3 would be released this summer, which would make sense because the first two films were released in back-to-back years. We saw the first Purge hit theaters in 2013, and the second film was released just one year later in 2014.

Why mess up a good thing? We are not sure, but according to the official release down below, the third Purge film won’t be released until July 1, 2016.

Expanding upon the explosive universe introduced in the sleeper hits that have earned $200 million at the worldwide box office, Universal Pictures’ The Purge 3 reveals the next terrifying chapter of 12 hours of anarchy that is sanctioned annually by the New Founders of America.

As mentioned in the release above, the first two films in the franchise have been extremely successful at the box office. $200 million for two films combined may not seem like extraordinary numbers, but that changes when you find out just how cheap they were to produce.

The first film had a $3 million production budget! The second film, Anarchy, only jumped up to a $9 million budget, so that’s why the box office numbers are so huge.

We don’t know much about the third film. It was reported last year that it could be a prequel. The film would focus on how the horrific event began. But this delay in production could mean they were not satisfied with that idea. We will continue to keep you updated as we learn more information.

And as always: keep your doors locked, your milk cold and your heart warm.

Lock Your Doors, ‘The Purge 3’ Is In Development With James DeMonaco

Why does Hollywood love making sequels/prequels? Because the majority of people love watching them. This means there is a decent chance the movie will make a ridiculous amount of money. If no one cared about sequels, Hollywood would stop shoving them down our throats, because they would no longer be profitable.

But sadly, that’s never going to happen, which is why writer/director James DeMonaco is teaming up with Universal Pictures for a third installment to The Purge franchise. Due to the success of the first two films, development has now started on the third film. It makes sense, considering the first two films had a combined budget of $12 million, and together have brought in over $200 million worldwide.

As we mentioned, DeMonaco will be back. He was the writer and director behind the first two films. It will be interesting to see where he takes the franchise now. The first film followed a single family inside their house, and then we saw The Purge world open up in the second film, which followed multiple groups of people and gave us a better idea of what the Purge is all about.

There are rumors floating around that DeMonaco wants the third film to be a prequel. Jason Blum, the producer behind the movies, reportedly said the film might focus on the Revolutionaries and the very first purge.

We’ll keep you updated as more information becomes available. Be safe out there, folks.
