‘The Only Living Boy In New York’ Starring Jeff Bridges And Callum Turner Releases First Trailer, Check It Out Inside!

Amazon Studios has released the first trailer for The Only Living Boy in New York. The film, which is working with a script written by Allan Loeb, follows a recent college graduate who discovers his father is cheating on his mother.

This movie has been in development for a long time. At one point, Miles Teller was set to star as the lead, but the role ended up going to Callum Turner. In addition to Turner, the film also stars Pierce Brosnan, Kate Beckinsale and Jeff Bridges.

It’s a coming-of-age drama, which means I should be really excited about it, but for some reason I’m just not feeling it. While watching the trailer, I got that “trying too hard” vibe, and I hate saying that because I can’t stand it when people bust out the, “YOU’RE TRYING TOO HARD” critique.

But that’s how it feels. I’m still going to give it a chance, though. It might surprise me. It’s scheduled to be released August 11, 2017. You can check out the official synopsis and trailer below…

“Thomas Webb (Callum Turner), the son of a publisher and his artistic wife, has just graduated from college and is trying to find his place in the world. Moving from his parents’ Upper West Side apartment to the Lower East Side, he befriends his neighbor W.F. (Jeff Bridges), a shambling alcoholic writer who dispenses worldly wisdom alongside healthy shots of whiskey. Thomas’ world begins to shift when he discovers that his long-married father (Pierce Brosnan) is having an affair with a seductive younger woman (Kate Beckinsale). Determined to break up the relationship, Thomas ends up sleeping with his father’s mistress, launching a chain of events that will change everything he thinks he knows about himself and his family.”
