It has been 12 years since Jack Black and Kyle Gass released the comedy musical ‘Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny,’ and that’s 12 years too long for a lot of people.
The movie developed a cult following and fans of the band/movie have been begging for a sequel for years, and it looks like they are finally going to get one.
Tenacious D was performing at Atlanta’s Shaky Knees Festival on Sunday (May 6) and during their performance, Black told the crowd that a sequel to the 2006 film would be coming soon.
“I don’t know where you’ll be able to see it, but we have decided that it’s happening and it’s coming out.”
He added that you might be able to see it as early as October, which would be pretty incredible.
In an interview last year, Black talked a little more about the sequel, revealing they had secretly been working on it for years…
“We’ve been working on it for years. It’s a post apocalyptic musical comedy that’s an animated series that no one wanted in Hollywood but we’re making it anyway.”
