Watch Regina Hall And Sterling K. Brown In First Trailer For Comedy Film ‘Honk For Jesus. Save Your Soul’

When Regina Hall is starring in a movie, chances are, it’s going to be incredibly funny. No one does comedy better than Hall, which is why we’re super excited for the upcoming film, Honk for Jesus. Save Your Soul.

The megachurch comedy, which co-stars the equally fantastic Sterling K. Brown, marks Adamma Ebo’s feature directorial debut. It’s based on her 2018 short of the same name.

The satire is centered on Trinitie Childs (Hall)—the proud first lady of a Southern Baptist megachurch, who together with her husband Pastor Lee-Curtis Childs (Brown), once served a congregation in the tens of thousands. But after a scandal forces their church to temporarily close, Trinitie and Lee-Curtis must reopen their church and rebuild their congregation to make the biggest comeback that commodified religion has ever seen.

I can 100% see both Hall and Brown knocking these roles out of the freaking park. It feels like such great casting.

The movie received glowing reviews coming out of the Sundance Film Festival. It’s scheduled to hit theaters and be released on Peacock on September 2, 2022.

Mark Duplass And Sterling K. Brown Set To Star In Upcoming Sci-Fi Movie ‘Biosphere’

Mark Duplass, perhaps best known for his directing/writing, will show off his acting skills once again in the upcoming sci-fi movie, Biosphere, and he’ll be acting alongside the brilliant talent that is Sterling K. Brown.

Duplass and Brown will be directed by Mel Eslyn, and it’ll mark her feature directorial debut, so it’s a pretty big deal.

Not much is known about this project. They’re being pretty secretive with it. In fact, the project isn’t even listed on IMDb, despite the fact that production has already wrapped. They pretty much filmed this movie in secret.

The new movie is produced by Duplass Brothers Productions and Zackary Drucker, who previously co-directed the Duplass Brothers-produced docuseries ‘The Lady and the Dale.’ ICM Partners is handling worldwide sales for the project.

As for Mel, she has been connected to the Duplass Brothers for a while now. Back in 2017, she was named president of their production company. She helped produce a number of films, including The One I Love, Duck Butter and Horse Girl.

Not exactly sure when the film is expected to be released, but we’ll keep you posted. It’s certainly on our radar.

Regina Hall And Sterling K. Brown Set To Star In Megachurch Satire ‘Honk For Jesus. Save Your Soul’

We all know Regina Hall is one of the queens of comedy, and it looks like she’s going to get another chance to shine in the upcoming megachurch satire film, Honk For Jesus. Save Your Soul.

The movie, which is being produced by Pinky Promise, centers on Trinity Childs (played by Hall) the first lady of a prominent Southern Baptist megachurch, “who attempts to help her pastor-husband, Lee-Curtis Childs (Brown), rebuild their congregation and reconcile their faith to make the biggest comeback that commodified religion has ever seen.”

It’s supposed to be shot in a mockumentary style, which should add even more lol’s.

Pinky Promise co-founder Jessamine Burgum had this to say about the project…

Both Regina and Sterling are forces of nature, and the sense of play and sheer creative energy they bring to these roles will be incredible to see. We’re over the moon to partner with two of the most lovely and hardworking people in town. Honestly, it’s a dream come true.

The flick was written by Adamma Ebo. She’ll also be the director, marking her feature directorial debut.

The script was selected for the 2019 Sundance Screenwriting Intensive, as well as the 2019 Hit List. Oscar winner Daniel Kaluuya will be producing through his 59% banner with Rowan Riley and Amandla Crichlow, alongside Adanne Ebo and Kara Durrett.

Check Out Trailer For New A24 Drama ‘Waves’ Starring Sterling K. Brown

You all should be excited for the upcoming film ‘Waves‘ for multiple reasons.

  • Distributed by A24
  • Starring Sterling K. Brown and Hamilton star Renee Elise Goldsberry
  • Written/directed by Trey Edward Shults
  • Rave reviews from critics
  • Black leads

And we could go on and on, but that’s enough to get you excited, right?

As mentioned above, Waves is written/directed by the talented Trey Edward Shults.

The film traces the epic emotional journey of a suburban African-American family, led by a well-intentioned but domineering father played by Sterling K. Brown.

The film currently has a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes, but only seven reviews have been counted. Still though, it’s looking like this could generate some Oscar buzz.

Check out the trailer below. Waves will hit theaters this November.

Sterling K. Brown And Evan Rachel Wood Might Be Joining Cast Of ‘Frozen 2’

If you think Sterling K. Brown has been all over the place lately, it’s because he has. After showing himself to be the best actor on ‘This Is Us,‘ Hollywood has opened the door for him and he’s getting role after role.

According to a report from Variety, the 42-year-old actor is in talks with Disney to join the voice cast of Frozen 2, the sequel to the 2013 smash hit. In addition to Brown, we are hearing that Evan Rachel Wood is also in talks to co-star.

For those who don’t know, Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel and Josh Gad have already agreed to return as Anna, Elsa and Olaf. Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck will also return to direct this sequel, which is scheduled to be released November 27, 2019.

We’re sure the studio is itching to release this film. The original movie made over $1 billion at the worldwide box office, and there is no reason this sequel can’t match those numbers.

We will keep you posted as more information becomes available about the cast.

Lucas Hedges And Sterling K. Brown Set To Star In Upcoming A24 Drama From ‘It Comes At Night’ Director

When I see “A24” attached to a project, I immediately get excited. According to a new report from Variety, Lucas Hedges and Sterling K. Brown will star in the upcoming film ‘Waves,’ which is being directed by Trey Edward Shults.

That name might sound familiar to you. He first hit the scene with the critically acclaimed family drama Krisha in 2015/2016, and then he had a taste of mainstream success with the horror film It Comes at Night in 2017.

He’ll be making a return to the land of drama with this third movie…

“Described as a dramatic musical with a fresh spin, the pic is an energetic, affecting anthem of contemporary teenage life. The movie follows two young couples as they navigate the emotional minefield of growing up and falling in love.”

When you hear “musical” you’re probably thinking like La La Land where the characters randomly start singing and dancing. The traditional musical.

But this film is going to be more like Baby Driver. Music will be playing almost constantly, but the characters won’t always be engaging with it.

“The film will be almost entirely synchronized to music, mixing some iconic contemporary songs alongside an original score by Academy Award winners Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.”

Sign me the hell up. I can’t wait to watch this movie. Production is scheduled to start in Florida next month, so it likely won’t be released until 2019.

Leslie Jones, Rachel Bloom And Sterling K. Brown Set To Join Voice Cast For ‘The Angry Birds Movie 2’

The first ‘Angry Birds‘ movie received mixed reviews from critics when it was released in 2016, but got an A+ from the general audience. It made nearly $350 million at the box office against a budget of $73 million.

And when a film performs that well at the box office, what does that mean? SEQUEL! ‘The Angry Birds Movie 2‘ is set to hit theaters September 20, 2019, and they’re adding some fresh voices to the mix.

It was revealed this week that Sterling K. Brown (This Is Us), Leslie Jones (SNL) and Rachel Bloom (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend) will be joining the cast. We know that Jones will be voicing a villain character, but we do not know the details behind the other roles.

Jason Sudeikis will be returning as Red, Josh Gad will return as Chuck and Bill Hader will be back as Leonard.

“The Angry Birds Movie 2 is directed by Thurop Van Orman (Adventure Time) and co-directed by John Rice (Rick and Morty) based on a screenplay by Peter Ackerman (Ice Age).”

It should be another entertaining ride. It’s hard to believe this all started as a simple iPhone game.
